There's several hundred companies who specialize in following your every movement online.
I encourage ALL AR members to check it out for yourself. EVEN HERE YOU'RE BEING TRACKED!! ..text form my tracking software... "ar15.com Was tracking me 1 Blocking 1 company from knowing what I do here No social networks found here. 1 company tracking me: 1 blocked 100,000 Enjoy! Your all-time total is: 118,047 blocked " As you can see from the text, I've blocked well over 100,000 attempts to see what I'm doing on the web. This is a free add-on / download. Check the site, read up on it yourselves and make your own decisions but I highly recommend looking into it. http://www.abine.com/ or search "do not track me" Be safe ..FN.. |

Considering FBI and NSA have been tracking and saving every packet of data you send from your pc like it or not, this is mostly like saying your behind seven proxies.
"Do not Track" is a request flag from your PC which most companies just ignore or aren't setup to handle those requests. (Its not a legal thing yet) Any time you access a server or transmit data there is a trail. These "Places trying to see what your doing online" are actually collecting basic non-intrusive (usually) data to tailor their systems to better commercialize to their base from the use of tracking cookies and whatnot. Instead of downloading software that probably does things your trying to avoid, goto options, check "Do not accept cookies" and use In Private browsing and youll still be as safe as the things you look at. Theres very few companies out there that want to see what furry porn sites you visit. |

Do you have ANY idea how much bandwidth and processing power that would require? I always get a kick out of it when people say ignorant stuff like this. It is simply physically NOT possible for them to be able to do that.

Carnivore FTW!

It may not be as far fetched as you think. They won't monitor everything, but the amount of data they can track and save is pretty scary. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/03/ff_nsadatacenter/all/ |

I do have a pretty good grasp on the requirements, yes. I guess I should revise the statement to all pertinent data is analyzed and can be automatically flagged and tracked for human review. If you are flagged personally, then every peice of data you produce can be analyzed. What's ignorant is to the assumed improbablity of the exsistance of such systems even considering the publicly visible feats of just the last half century. Regardless, my original point was to get across no matter what service or program your running, big brother is always watching and documenting and Reynold's™ Tinfoil can't save you either. |

I think this was more valid of an objection in the 90s. Petabytes of data storage capability are relatively inexpensive now, and processing power easily pooled. The limitation is now on the software that could make sense of the data, not on the capability of storing and processing it. |

Storage getting cheaper isn't all that relevant if someone is cloning it all, because as it gets cheaper on their end, it gets cheaper on the consumer end. The result on the consumer end is we all use whatever we have, more or less. They're not storing the actual porn you view, just that you viewed it (just an illustration). You can still only fit so much into a day. |

Not so much. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECHELON . It started there, or before. They used a weighted keyword system. Once a certain weight was reached, the communicaiton was flagged for further review. The US Dept of Commerce runs the root DNS servers. There is most definately ability and desire to monitor traffic. If you think that anything you do on the interwebz is actually anonymous, you are mistaken. The amount of data they we know they can process is staggering and the full capabilities are classified. |

Tracking software doesn't care about you, just about building a profile that can be sold to advertisers as a service. |

This - i'm wary of any site that proposes it helps show where you're being tracked cos... it sounds like it also tracks you. |

Own a cell phone, they know where your standing. And what you're saying. And probably see what you're doing as well. |
|
And you can probably include Apple's $3 Billion iCloud setup in NC into that matrix as well. No doubt the data is linked in real time without any silly warrants or subpoenas involved. |
|
Only if you have done something where they are interested in you and don't mind spending a lot of money. Otherwise, they neither know or care who you are.

the amount of effort to inspect every packet, tie them to the requestor, identify that you may use many different ip addresses over time, etc - plus any VPN tunnels you use - they aren't tracking anyone other than specific people that are on their radar.
The average person is anonymous and safe, right up to the point where the feds no longer care how much it costs to get them - then there is nothing you can do. |
