First, I apologize if there is another place for this, but didn't seem to find anything to match so thought I'd put it here.

What do you guys shoot out when outside the range? I'm using paper targets now, but I live in the country and could set up some stuff.

I'm alright if it's expensive, but don't want to shoot at it 10 times and then have to buy another. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I picked up some of THESE. The 3.5 (medium size) are great for 50 to 100 yards. Only use SP or other soft bullets, NO xm855 and the like. But that goes for any AR steel that you might want to keep

I make my own targets with MS Excel. I create 1" squares and black out 2 squares per page.

I have a continually replenishing supply of cardboard boxes due to the nature of my work, so I make life-size targets whenever I plan on heading out for a blasting session. Using some Sharpies, you can make basic silhouettes pretty easily - then free hand whatever strikes your fancy. I've made & shot terrorists, "Grey" aliens, zombies, ninjas, deer (using a large piece of cardboard) even blue-helmeted UN cannon-fodder.

I've also got an old shale pit that I like to shoot in, that provides me with room to set targets on the ground from contact distance to a little over 100 yards out, and more than 100 yards wide. Save a bunch of 2 liter bottles (with lids), refill with water & a few drops of food coloring - they make good reactive targets on the cheap...

I seldom shoot outside a range, but in the past "pepper poppers" were always my favorite (steel silhouette sized/shaped plates that fall down when you shoot them and have to be reset).

I put shoot n see targets on the back of pieces of wrapping paper for the 50 yd+ ranges, and use a 1" orange dot sticker on a paper plate for pistols because I'm a cheap ass
