Longtime bottomshelf drinker here - I thought Jack Daniels was the top of the whiskey mountain.  After reading about Bulleit here & on a whim at the liquor store,  picked out a bottle of this stuff.  Brought it home and prepared myself for something more like a scotch than bourbon - and I'm not a fan of scotch.

Splashed a light glassful and prepared for disappointment as I took my first swig.....and....HOLY FUCK, THIS SHIT IS GOOD!  It doesn't burn and I can actually taste the flavors!

Preparing a second glass now....thanks, ARFCOM!

Good choice! Bulleit rye is some good stuff. Give their bourbon a try as well, guaranteed you'll like it.

I think it's just about the single best bang for the buck in whiskey right now.  If you want to try another good one give templetons a whirl.

I'm drinking it tonight also. It's my favorite.

I did try knob creek last night, and it was pretty damn good also.

Try Rittenhouse BiB rye also.

And then move to Elijah Craig 12 yr, Evan Williams Single Barrel and (my favorite) 4 Roses Small Batch.

All amazingly good bourbons for under $30.00.

Do have a Costco in your area? The ones around here have a liquor store attached. Don't need to be a member to shop the liquor store. The best prices in town.

I finished the remains of a bottle of Woodford Reserve last night. It was a sad moment.

It's a glorious moment. Much like a regal phoenix rising from the ashes, you go to the liquor store and get some more of that shit!

It's all about perspective!

Bulleit Rye is the best booze for the money, IMO.  They make an awfully good bourbon, too.

Our Costco doesn't carry Bulleit.  Woodford, Maker's, and my last handle of Jack that's almost empty .

Honestly, I'm really impressed with Bulleit.  I want a third glass, but I have to get up for work at 4AM tomorrow, so I better not....

If they have the Kirkland's, try that. It is distilled by Jim Beam and most think it's better than Beam White.

Their Rye and Bourbon is the best shit for the money. I bought a case of each, just incase the SHsTF. I usually drink blantons or jefferson, but like i said for the money bulliet can't be beat.

If it is under $30 it is cheap.  Wait for a year or so when you are justifying a $100 bottle in the middle of the liquor store

The honey jack mixed with diet coke is actually a damn good mix. It has to be diet though, it reacts differently with regular coke and taste like donkey piss.

Strange. I get the impression they rushed things out. Jack needs to take a page out of Jim Beam's playbook... Almost everything I've had from JB (which I consider mixing bourbon) such as steak sauce and ancillary stuff like that, has been pretty uniformly excellent.

JD's had a couple stumbles. Some of their branded stuff seems a little bit like they were phoning it in.

That said -- I hope this Rye is good, and I'd love to try some one day.

And +1 to the above recommendation for Templeton Rye.  Higher-end stuff, but everyone here should try some since it was "Al Capone's" whiskey.

Went to an Ohio State game last year, and went to a sponsored pregame party. The drink special was honey jack mixed with Sierra Mist.

Wife and I found it to be pretty tasty, and she doesn't drink whiskey. We keep some around to this day.
