Why was this Homeland Security ever developed?? uhhh Didn't we already have a NATIONAL GUARD, a COAST GUARD, an ARMY, an AIR FORCE a NAVY, and a MARINE CORPS as well as many citizens who bear arms and are willng to protect their country?? Oh I forgot..all of the United State's current, well-regulated, military, organizations are limited to protecting foreign countries only. Our military is only subject to shooting down civilian airliners in the event of a hi-jacking. Homeland Security= make people take off their shoes in an airport security check while paying illegal aliens low wages to spot potential terrorists. I feel safer now. [B)] ArmaLiter |

Go to RAND.ORG There is a paper there from the Rand Think Tank. From the years 97-2000 there were a series of wargames held by Soldiers where the problem was how to win the battle against the rising tide of terrorism. The things you see being done by the nation today were set forth in that document. The problem is how to do battle inside US territory against terrorists in this country. The issue that came up was Posse Commitatus, the answer is the office of Homeland Security. Here are the links: http://www.rand.org/publications/MR/MR1490/MR1490.pdf The United States Government has been working with the Rand Think tank for at least 30-40 years to stay ahead of trends in all areas of domestic affairs, Geo-political and National Security/Defense. Hope this helps, clear up these murky waters. Ben |

Quoted: I've been wondering about that for about a year now myself. Do we not have a Department of DEFENSE? If not, where the hell is that 300 billion dollars a year going, anyway? http://www.dtic.mil/comptroller/fy2002budget/fy02grbk.pdf Table 3-1 is what you're looking for. It's more of a question of law vice capability. |

I'm not sure what gives me a bigger headache, reading that drivel, or knowing that after spending that much of my tax money, we STILL need a "Dept. of Homeland Security". How many illiterate immigrants does it take to wand our grandmothers in the airports, anyway? |
