My 1911 collection is small. Just got my Pearce Grips today. Love how they feel.

What !!! Pics with no narration !!!
anyway, I see you have a couple of TRS's and a CQB. I am looking at both of them as a next purchase, so any input on them from you would be welcomed. [:D] |
|
For those interested, mine are, clockwise from top left:
Les Baer TR Special from the custom shop, hard chromed lower and Baer coated upper, Kimber Classic Custom with Wilson Combat Nite Eyes, Les Baer TR Special Stock, and Wilson Combat CQB. |
|
Sorry Spectre, I was just adding that to the post. Email me with questions and I'll do my best as I have shot and carry all of these quite a bit.
The TR's are tight, and take about 500 rounds to get broken in properly. But I have to admit that I shoot just as well with the CQB. I used both the CQB and the lower TR at Thunder Ranch and both ran great, so I really couldn't steer you one way or the other, but there are subtle differences between the two. |

Hey Rikwriter,
Nice TOPS man, I got two myself. How do you like yours? |
|
Quoted: Hey Rikwriter, Nice TOPS man, I got two myself. How do you like yours? View Quote I like the fixed blade. The folder I didn't like so much...I had no luck sharpening it myself so I sent it back to them for factory sharpening (they do it free for just the price of shipping)...and they wound up significantly shortening the blade. |
|
Both of mine are fixed blade, I have the scapel and the CAT. I wasn't crazy about their folder, for the size I'd rather have a fixed blade.
|
|
My newest one, just about finished, and broken in good! A custom Ron Fitwater (The Late) Caspian framed Commander, serial Number 1, as he was more a rifle maker, and full-size 1911's.
I keep getting smaller ones. I think a Springfield Armory Micro, next. It's funny, I started with P1445's |

My ParaOrd P-12.

1917 vintage commercial Colt Government Model. First it was Grampa's, then my Dad's and now mine. A lot of effort goes into assuring that someday it will be my daughters...

Unfortunately, not mine [:(] |

Mine aren't pretty - but they are well used....
Top one is a Springfield Armory 1911A1 .45acp(what else), pretty much stock on the outside but polished, throated, and trigger lightened on the inside. This pistol has over 4000 rounds on it, the only malfunctions after internal mods - I can count on one hand, and most of those are fault of my reloads. The bottom one is a Springfield Armory Compact model(also .45 of course). It's a little more fancy on the outside with the commander hammer, Novac sights, and the typical de-horning stuff. The inside has also been polished, throated, and trigger lightened. I prefer for GI gun for both open and CCW carry. |

CQB & TR Nice collection Blaze415! I'll be back with a pic of my two measly .45's after I go out and eat. Later... |

Damn I need a .45 now.......
anyone suggest a cheap but good 1911 .45 that a poor bastard can afford? (owned a llama once, it went into a lake, best place for it [:D]) Edited cause beer makes bad spelling |
|
You can get "Loaded" Springfields for less than $600 usually.

We can't get the Dan Wessons here in California but I've heard good things about them, and I think you can get them for under 500. The current Auto Ordnance by Kahr looks pretty good too.

OTOH, I wouldn't take a Charles Dailey if it was the last 1911 make on the planet! |

In no particular order: - Wilson Combat CQB - Springfield Armory TRP ( Custom Shop ) - Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special ---->>>> - Kimber Custom Eclipse ( Fullsize ) - Various Colt pre-70 and regular 70 Series - Various other early gov. model Colts. - Remington Rand - Singer - Colt Ace - Etc... |

More bullets is good, right? |
|

Here's mine. It is a Stock Series 70 Colt Combat Government which has been highly modified. All custom trigger, hammer, trigger guard profile thinned and checkered, custom recoil system, hard nickel plated by Accutate Plating; shoots like a tuned Gold Cup which is what it essentially is but has combat fixed sights. I'm going to put night sights on it soon. This pistol and my Kahr K40 are my carry guns. |

And is the inside of the gun plated too? Such as the inside of the slide and magwell, etc... |

SeaDweller - Go here for a current price list:www.apwcogan.com/ I had this work done some time ago and the prices will have increased. The factory finish was blue and yes it is hard chromed throughout, inside and out.

She said they only hard chromed the outside and the inside would still be original finish. Kinda like painting your car and having the door jams a different color. |
