I waited two hours yesterday at Sportsmans warehouse.  Once the doors opened the crowd was civil and we proceeded to the back of the store to form
another line.  I was number 13 in line.  They got in 12 ARs on the morning truck.  The guy in front of me was there for a hand gun.  I purchased the last AR available.
$699.00 for a Bushmaster 15 carbon.  Thank you Sportsmans's warehouse for not gouging.

Side notes:  Last Friday they received 30 ARs and 30,000 rounds of 223.  This Friday,  12 ARs and ZERO 223.
3 pallets of assorted ammo was put in the isles.  By the time I left the store it was scavenged and only cardboard and pallets remained. This is going to be a long bumpy ride folks.
10 days on background check and I have my CCW.

with an AR on their shelf.  Supply and demand is a powerful motivator.

Methinks OP felt the panic and bought any AR that could be found, POS or not

Atleast you got something and in this market, if your not all that happy with it you can sell it easily. I had a carbon 15 years ago, for about a week when they 1st came out. I didn't like it and I promptly sold it.

Me thinks, once I get the weapon out of the box I may not like it.  If that's the case I may have to sell it
at market value. EVERY gun on the private market today is being sold for a profit.

Yeah well I got 30 NIB USGI mags for $7 each.  With free bandoleers.  And free ACU BDUs.  Multiple sets.  And some free P38's.  And a free 5 round AK mag, because since nobody wants one might was well give it away....

I just can't decide if I should flip the mags or keep 'em.  Ebay shut me down, and I've not used armslist before.  And craigslist is too iffy.

Buying a firearm just to flip it regardless of profit and not having a FFL is most certainly a felony. Now you could argue you didn't have the intention of doing that until after you bought it but the legal fees defending that position are certainly going to be higher than any profit you could make on that rifle.

The cops and every anti gunner in this country are queued up to illegal sales at this particular moment. Feel free to roll them dice since in your first few posts you have told us what state you live in where you bought it what exactly you bought and where you intend to sell it. good luck OP.

Many threads on this topic. IF YOU BUY ANY GUN TO RESELL you must have a FFL.
One of the only ways it can be proven that you bought a gun to resell would be an admission by the buyer on a public forum.

I wouldn't  say there's no ar's anywhere. It's not like the factories have all shut down. Stock still comes in. They are just being bought at a much faster rate now. If you try hard and with a little luck you can still find a good price on a ar-15.

It might be more of a grey area than you think.

The dealing language reads as follows.

Engaged in the business,” as applicable to a firearms dealer, is defined as a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to dealing in firearms as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the repetitive purchase and resale of firearms, but such term shall not include a person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells all or part of his personal collection of firearms.

A one time sale of a rifle for profit ? I'm not sure it fits. They might try to charge you, but it probably isn't likely. Definitely don't make a habit of it.

If you are in the firearms industry right now and you have stock and do not increase your costs to match demand you are a not a gouger. I think the correct term is ' fucking idiot '.

OP I have no problem with what you did and if questioned by any .gov agencies you did not buy to sell but " to enhance your collection ". YMMV.

From the guy who says, "Thank you Sportsmans warehouse for not gouging."

Once again, dealers who are trying to be nice guys don't understand economics. Shit will move at the market price. If the dealer doesn't charge market price, the reseller will.

selling stock you already own at market value is great.  buying things at normal pricing that someone else could actually use just to resell it at gouge pricing is a douche bag move, I don't care what anyone says.  it's like those ticket agencies that buy a ton of tickets for a football game, causing the market value to rise, then reselling for massive profit.  consumers could have just bought those same tickets at value if they weren't involved.  it's a useless middleman with no value add.  we want more people owning these guns right now.  it's better for all of us.  just fucking them over as they try to buy their first rifle to make a cheap buck?  fuck all you people doing that.  you should be ashamed.

p.s. I found both rifles and ammo yesterday in Kansas city at normal prices at the 2 shops I went to.  I think all the people selling rifles to take advantage of the market are starting to flood it.
