I live in a crappy, I mean crappy apartment complex. I am looking for a back pack that can hold a 30 inch rifle (folding stock) the DC cases, guitar cases etc. still draw attention. Guy got his guitar stolen from his car a few weeks ago so want to avoid anything that looks like money. The less webbing/molle on the outside the better. Just seeing what you guys know of. Thanks for any direction.

as far as housing, its temporary. I will be getting out of here asap.

If it can break down further a nice heavy-duty tool box from Lowes would work.

Does it have to be a backpack?

Someone's less likely to rip off your stinky gym clothes.I'd avoid anything that looks like it holds tools; those are easy to steal and fence and tend to attract attention.

I got a bag with my Sig M400 that functions as a backpack too.  Seems to do the trick.  Its a Sig sauer rifle bag.

I would second something that looks like a gym bag. Maybe if you can even find something that has a gym or GNC logo on it. I would think a potential thief would go after a backpack first for laptops, electronics, even college textbooks they could easily sell. If they think its your stinky clothes they may not take the trouble to steal it. It may not be as sexy as a fancy gun case, but if it helps you KEEP your gun then all the better!

thats the idea. Just needed the straps for over the shoulders while walking to and from the range. Just ease of carry really.
