Yes u r

ETA: SMS is 140 characters. Back before you had unlimited texting. It was wise to use text  speak unless you like paying per text and texting was for quick messages now they're used to carry on full conversations.

It made *some* sense, before full alphanumeric keyboards and unlimited texting. It sucks hacking out a proper sentence with a DTMF keypad.

Now? Not so much.

Its not just texts. You see it here in replies. Looks like a 6 year old is trying to say something.Text abbreviations are good if you have ADD.

You're not. I can't stand it either. I get it back when SMS was limited. But it's aggrivating to see it bleed into peoples writing.

Full keyboard on my phone, and unlimited texting.

No text speak here, unless it's an OTR, or an RTB.

I usually speak my texts...... easier and faster than typing

No, you are not.

Half the time I can't read the text messages I receive... It drives me fucking apeshit! With phones and predictive text the way they are now, there is no reason to not use proper spelling.

People wonder why I won't text back haha

And it's REALLY aggravating when it bleeds into peoples' speech.  Every time I hear someone say "OMG", I want to pimp slap them.

I never bought into the texting thing in the first place.  Always seemed like a major step backwards to me.

"Oh but they're so handy when you're in a meeting & somebody wants to tell you something."

If I'm in a meeting, ninety five percent of the time I am running the meeting.  Shut your phones off, please.

I communicate with my coworkers at Job1 via text. If they have an issue with the equipment we're babysitting, they'll send me a picture and a description of what's going on, and if I can tell them how to fix it we won't have to call anyone.

I also like being able to have critical information, like names and phone numbers being passed to me, in a "written" form.

The ability to send group texts is awesome, though.  If I need to tell nine people that are spread out that the meeting is at 0900,
I send one text to nine people, or I make nine phone calls, or physically drive to nine locations and tell them face to face.
Which is more efficient?

Properly used, the technology is great.

Last week I received a text from a "Jazzmine". Could someone decipher please?

CM7 V.S. YMCMG

???

YMCM  = young money cash money. Thats little Wayne (rapper) label
No idea about the G so I'll say girls, guys, group, goons

CM7 is a mix tape from a rapper

So I'm guessing they're doing one record vs another.

You know ... I at least have an excuse to do that - I'm a "dinosaur" when it comes to cell phone plans and pay per text message.  Yet I don't.  I STILL use full words and punctuation.
