So I have a new neighbor that has a ghettotastic P.O.S. Infinity that the alarm is randomly going off. I guess he works nights due to the fact that it's only here during the day. This morning when I went to lay my son down for his morning nap, it went off and woke him up. I went over and had a chat with him about it. How long would be a reasonable time to allow him to fix the problem before I file a noise complaint?

Car audio / alarm places are extremely busy this time of year since many people gave / received car related electronics that need professional installation. However, adjusting alarm sensativity should be an easy adjustment for any qualified shop. I'd give him a week or so. Is he the head of household or a child of?

Cars alarms should be illegal. Stupid fucking things used to go off all night at the apartment complex I lived in. Never a break in mind you. Just wind or some other BS setting the stupid things off. I wonder how many thefts have actually been prevented by these stupid things.

If it happens a few more times I'd be quick to file a complaint.

Work with him. Depending on his attitude.
So you're saying he's a working guy, and asking if you should dime him out to the State?
I wouldn't.

Next time the alarm goes off just call the fire dept and report a burning car on your street.

Infiniti. Infinity is an endless number or a sound system.

I hear them going off all the time in parking lots. No one even pays attention to them anymore. We have become so accustomed to them going off for no reason or some soccer mom setting it off.

I figure I will give him a week to fix it. I told him that pulling the fuse would be acceptable. Our city has an ordinance against sounding a horn or signaling device except for an emergency, an specifically calls out unusual volume or duration with no hours where it's allowed. This morning between 9 and 10 am it sounded three different times.

Drove through a Porsche dealership a long time ago in my fun car just to browse and ended up setting more than 5 cars off.

Remind me how these alarms are useful again...

Had a neighbors car alarm go off every time someone closed their car door near it.  Useless piece of shit.

Call 911 - if a car alarm is going off it means someone is getting their car stolen.

Some ass at my complex has a car alarm that beeps about thirty times when he turns it on. I don't know if that is just the way the alarm is programmed or if the ass hole just keeps pressing the button on his entire walk to his apartment.

If they have a ordinance like that I would hate to see what other dumb ass ordinances they have.

I had shotgun pipes on my Harley and would LOVE to go down the street just setting off car alarms... looking back it was WAY too loud, but that is part of the fun of owning a Harley.  One time I had like 5 going off in row... it was good stuff!!

I had to fight a "junk car" ticket two years ago due to my Triumph Spitfire being over 20 years old, and since it was a recreational car, it would sit in my driveway from Nov to Mar. The ticketing officer assumed the car didn't run. The ticket was quickly dismissed when I drove to muni court in the same car and parked it in full view of everyone in the courtroom outside the window. I got a personal apology from the police chief over that one.
