So...I am giving the OkCupid thing a try. I tried POF a while back and had virtually zero luck with it. I did find this girl that has struck my interest. So before I send her a message, I was hoping to get some tips on what a good initial message would be? Any tips in general works for me.
A little about me...I am 25, just finished up my masters in Mechanical Engineering. No kids, never been married. Enjoy outdoor activities (motocross, shooting, camping, hiking, mountain biking), movies, traveling. I love rock music, but hate country. I'm definitely not the cocky type...I'm more easy going and laid back. Here is some info from HER profile: My self-summary I am an outgoing person, but yet somewhat shy meeting someone at first. I have graduated from college but am now working on my BSN in nursing. I love to travel, be creative, be outdoors, watch movies, listen to music especially country (but I love all kinds of music mostly), hang out with friends. I am a beach or mountain kind of girl. I love to play sports and I love the Falcons! I am a georgia peach through and through and love the country. I am a confident person and I know what I want in life (most of the time), and I love animals. I’m really good at Making people smile =] The first things people usually notice about me Is that I am a huge falcons fan or my smile~ Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food I love all sorts of foods...Italian, thai, mexican, Indian, sushi, etc. I am a vegetarian. I am a sucker for old movies with doris day or carey grant. I mostly love all types of music except heavy metal or screamo and I am a movie girl. I like all types of movies except horror. Finally, I have to admit that I love broadways too and would go to one any day. On a typical Friday night I am Im either with family eating an Italian meal, hanging with friends, or sitting by my fireplace with a cup of coffee (no joke). Its my time to relax and chill. Thanks for any tips! |

Quoted: Ask her out on a romantic boat ride. Then once you're out in open water, make your move. She can't say no. You know....because of the implication. You're going to get him shot, knifed or arrested. What can go wrong ![]() eta- sorry old married guy that's been out of the game for so long. |

Quoted: Did you miss the vegetarian part? Hope you dont tell her about you being a member of arfcom. Vegetarian means liberal commie gun hater. And what the fuck does a vegetarian eat thats considered sushi???? California Roll. Tell her you like your bacon dusted with bacon bits. |

Let me help you with that A little about me...I am 25, just finished college and I'm pursuing a job in my professional field of study. No kids, and I've never been married. I would much rather be outdoors doing what I love (motocross, shooting, camping, hiking, mountain biking). But if its raining, then a movie and dinner in is just as enjoyable. I also enjoy traveling when I able to get away from work. I love rock music, and easy going and laid back. OkCupid is full of crazy bitches. Go to your local college campus, much easier. Get a shirt that says "If you're reading this the bitch fell off " Put shirt on backwards Get some skin tight paints and put sock in crotch Put on shirt backwards with said paints and decoy deployed Walk around campus like a boss. |

Find something in her list that interests you, and talk about that. For instance, is there a Cary Grant movie you've seen. Does Italian food with family mean she';s Italian? If yes, get her to tell you some history on that.
Same as any gender. Get her to talk about herself |

I could write you a killer profile. It's kind of my thing.
I like to make people laugh, and I write profiles for some of my friends. The last one I did had my wife rolling. Give AemaNotSoLife your login and password. He has this covered. He will IM you with details to let you know where and when to show up for your date with this little Philly. He will also let the rest of us know in case you are local and we want to show up and watch for amusement. |

I'm good with the written word, and I can make a rock laugh. |

I was hoping to get some tips on what a good initial message would be? Any tips in general works for me. First, girls are vastly outnumbered by guys on online dating sites. You can send out dozens of messages and get zero replies, so your strategy of sending out a single message to a single special girl who will see you as a unique snowflake is doomed to failure. Next, even with a great opening, unless you have a profile and pics to back it up, you aren't going to get a reply. 10 other players have already buried her with messages. Last, even if she replies, chances are she'll bail before meeting. Every day she will get more messages from more players. My advice: 1. grow a thick skin. 2. message every chick you have a remote connection with. 3. if she doesn't message back, move on and don't look back. 4. Read the OK Cupid Forums. There's a ton of good advice there (for example, this). 5. While you are waiting for all those ladies to reply, ask yourself if you are the kind of person you'd like to spend time with. Read this and ask yourself that question again. 6. Don't forget meatspace. The more people you socialize with on the outside, the better off you'll be online (and in person, should you finally get that date). Good luck! |

You can' take it all that serious, but there in lies a defeat of finding anything meaningful. Most women that put themselves out there are craving attention, not a real mate. You will also be lumped in with all the meatheads they dealt with, so it's a climb to credibility, but most will move to the next guy before you have your chance. I found it easier to just randomly meet ladies while out and about.....just leave them alone if they are on the work clock. ETA: I had the most luck with women that demonstrated much reservation with their cyber profile. There are a few cuties that are actually very successful fine women, but they make you discover it.....you have to put some custom thought into your communication. Initially, do not write more than a few sentences that compliment, strike thought, a dab of humor and ask an appropriate question. Can't be too short or too long, they will read much into it. |
