" The majority of the majority is a governing principle (not a legal procedure)
used by Republican Speakers of the House of Representatives since the mid-1990's to effectively limit the power of the minority party to bring bills up for a vote on the floor of the house.[1] Under the majority of the majority doctrine the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives will not allow a vote on a bill to take place unless the majority of the majority party supports the bill" A mag ban or AWB would NEVER get a majority of House Republican support. |

I get it, but do not like that. If the "majority" is only 51% of the house, then less than 26% of the House could prevent a vote on a bill that 74% of the House favors. Might seem like a good idea now, but that's bound to bite us in the ass at some point. |

I wouldn't count on that, |

Ill take that bet. You wont have 116 HoR Republicans support any type of ban. 20-30 to pass a whole house with dem support - possibly. But not 116. I wasn't worried about Feinstein's bill making it. Hell, R's would vote against it just to smite her sorry ass, I am sure. I'm amazed she can get any legislation through at this point........... |
