i just got back from the range with a saiga 20. the problem i had
was that every mag i had at least one fte or stove pipe condition.
the ammo used was low brass winchester trap & target loads.
i tried both settings on the gas regulator. #1 would not extract
the empty hulls. position 2 worked the best. out of 100 rounds
fired i only had one complete mag cycle. has anyone else had
this problem? sunday i will return to the range with buckshot
or at least some high brass field loads to see if this will help.

JJ,
I would bet its the lower power charge. I think the High Brass stuff should work great.

Other than that, how do you like your Saiga? I am thinking about getting one in .410, or 20 for rabbit hunting. Just to have something a little different.

i wanted to get one in .410 or 12 gauge but
i had to settle for 20 gauge. it has a bit more
kick to it than i had anticipated and that was
just from the low brass. the shotgun is balanced
quite well, followup shots were quick. i was at
a indoor range shooting about 30 feet. the shot
pattern was very tight. if everything goes okay
with the high brass then i would recommend this
shotgun. the only other bitch i have is the
fixed full choke. it seems to be way to constricted to shoot slugs safely. i will probably cut 1 or 2 inches off. this will leave
me with at least a 20 inch barrel. i don't think
this will mess with the pattern too much.

Don't cut it.  It was said that they can work with slugs even w/ a full choke.

after measuring the constriction the full fixed
choke on the saiga is smaller than the xxfull
turkey choke on my winchester. i don't think
it would be wise to shoot slugs out of this barrel.
