Lost my job, driving to the ports, due to being sickly the last two years. They let me go.
Now the Ports are on strike a few days later so no one is driving to the ports. Oh the irony. ![]() ![]()

Poetic justice.
Something like that happened when I was back in school. I worked at a company that makes big machines. I assembled a small component, and only I and one other guy had experience doing it. Well, my team lead/manager was a douchenozzle that took every mistake as intentional disrespect, so he had me fired one Friday. That was the same day I found out that there was going to be a huge demand for the assemblies that I worked on, and the assembly that the other guy worked on. Other guy would be too busy to do my job too. So anyway, yeah, my former manager fucked himself with that move. |

480 clerks who get $160,000 in benefits a year, 21 holidays, 14 sick days, and 7 weeks of vacation turned down a 15% pay raise over three years and put thousands out of work as they won't cross the picket lines.
40% of America's imports come though those two ports. God I love unions. |

Quoted: Yeah! Screw that employer for wanting an employee who could, you know, show up and work. They should put that company out of business. ![]() yeah the more i work the more it seems like you're pretty much fire proof if you show up on time and don't fuck shit up working is optional. |

I was still willing to work, for a company who couldn't keep drivers in their trucks. |

I guess my comment comes from the perspective of a small-business employer. These are really hard times for everyone. Businesses are having to make life and death decisions just to keep the doors open and survive. I wish you good luck in your health and new job. |
