Ok. this is the deal.  I am thinking about heading out and basically starting a new life.  I read on the boards here about this place or the other having good or bad laws etc.  Does anyone know a perfect or at least nearly perfect area of the country to go.

These are some of the requirements,

Must be out in the woods on acreage, 30+ ac min.

Shooting must be looked upon by the locals as a good thing.

Full auto state preferred

Mountain living is great/preferred

Should be within an hour or so of decent jobs.

I do not like toll ways, strict gun laws, counties with to much regulation(permits for everything etc) or bad people.  Any suggestions?

I second that.

Vermont would seem ideal.

Yeah, say up around Dalonega (sp?) would be real nice. GA is a "shall issue" state. VT requires no carry permit. In GA you have the heat; in VT the cold. Take your pick...

I've never been any farther east than Minnesota, but looking at the map, Vermont just seems like it would be crowded, being that it is next to NY and all.  I saw the picture in the tacked Vermont property puchase thread.  Is this kind of area easily found there or is most of the state shoulder to shoulder people.  Not that I don't just love all you guys but I don't want to have to see you all the time![:D]

I'm along the line of thinking the Reno, NV area or just east of Seattle. I need to a little more homework on it.

Neither state, if I am correct, has a state income tax.

Edited to add:  As one member emailed me to ask, I am not renouncing my citizenship

Don't come to Idaho. We already have over a million people in this state! If you are a democrat you might come just to add some cultural diversity, I suppose. Wyoming might be nice and no state income tax yet--oh, and no citys to speak of.

I cannot speak for Nevada but WA does not have a state income tax.  Which brings up another requirement, does VT have one?  I did say "perfect" didn't I?[whacko]
