Current states without an individual income tax include: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.

On Nov. 6 NH will vote on a Constitutional Amendment to permanently squash liberals attempts to impose an income/sales tax in NH. We don't need them, our system works.

The measure states: "No new tax shall be levied, directly or indirectly, upon a person’s income, from whatever source it is derived".

Opponents argue the measure is too broadly written. Looks pretty clear to me. We don't have personal income tax or sales tax. Let's keep it that way.

Liberals are absolutely outraged! One of my wife's liberal friends is going out of her mind, and that bitch doesn't even pay taxes. She has the luxury of being a stay-home mom and the poster-child of the success of capitalism. She attends her pro-union rallies (her husband left the union to increase his income) and spends all her time at Obama rallies. She's not even a US citizen but got invited to the White House to meet the bastard in charge. I can see her now making her retarded FB posts from her jacuzzi while her husband checks on his stock quotes, the value of the gold and silver they own (she likes to brag about it), makes sure he got his bonuses, and plans their next vacation. Bitch called me a racist for not liking Obama......I'm white and my wife is Nicaraguan, but I'm the racist. Yeah.......OK.

Anyway, everybody from NH make sure you vote in favor of this Amendment. Let's cut their liberal balls off!

Sounds like a failure of that husband to control his wife and inform her of where exactly all her money comes from.

I made it pretty clear to her myself. She asked me on FB "You call this living the American dream?" so I pointed out she has 2 cars, a house, fridge full of food, heat in winter and A/C in summer, a jacuzzi, and her kids are getting an education. I told her most Americans can't even dream of having what she has. She proceeded to tell me (word for word) "I'm entitled to a simple stress free life". I about shit myself. She got mad when I called her the poster-child for the success of capitalism.

She doesn't think Americans should have the right to vote. She claims she lives in a third-world country. But her husband refuses to move to Canada.....he says he needs to work to feed his family. Ironically she came here chasing a job a long time ago. As a teacher. She once told me Canada cleared the Normandy beaches for the follow-up American forces. Yeah, she taught American kids. Sad. Really sad.

Her husband was a Republican when I met him but somehow turned far-left liberal. I guess she wore him down.

She works for the DNC. Go figure.

Are there taxes of other types? Property, vehicle registration and such? How do these compare with other states? I ask because I'm curious as to what sources the state and local goverments have for revenue. If it's working there, I want it to work here too! No income tax, but 8% sales tax on most goods, fairly high property taxes, etc......

Yes, NH has high property taxes, vehicle registration fees, meals and hotels taxes, and other sundry taxes.

We do not have a sales or income tax.

We also have a system where hard alcohol is only sold in New Hampshire State Liquor stores.  Between that and cigarettes and an active lottery system (and limited horse racing) we have sin taxes coming in.  In fact, New Hampshire was the first of the states to have a statewide lottery system.  It began back in the 60s.

The property taxes are probably the most difficult thing for most people in New Hampshire to swallow.  I do not live in a mansion by any means but I pay 7,600 a year.

This can become a problem if you want to retire in the state of NH.  That said you have to look at how much input you do have (representation) that goes along with your taxation.  Living in small town I have direct impact via our annual town meeting, school board budgetary meetings, and you are odd in NH if you don't know at least one of your State representatives (House) personally.  The House has 400 Representatives!

So, like any state taxes are a mixed bag.  That said, would adding an income tax relieve the property taxes?  I don't believe it would.  We could end up like Maine.  Same relative population.  They have high income, sales, property and other taxes.  They also have the largest per-capita state government.

No thanks to an income tax.  It would just fuel the growth of government in my opinion.

This!

There is never, nor will there ever be, enough money for the fucking politicians.

They will piss away every dime which they extort from you and more, forever.

Make 'em fight for every nickel.

She's not alone. Even if Romney wins it simply slows the decay of the Republic.

You can't fix stupid, and these days there's a lot of stupid.

With no sales tax or income tax how are things being paid for? Property tax?

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I don't like paying taxes as much as the next hard working "Conservative" but the fact remains, taxes of some kind are necessary for civilized society, what's up for debate is what gets taxed, by how much, and what that money is used for.

I love NH and we considered moving there quite a bit.  If Colorado ever goes full retard, it's the only state left IMHO.

Regarding taxes, there is a quasi sales tax in the name of a business profits tax from my past research.

Good for you guys though.  Keep the fort there

It also depends on what part of NH you live in. I live in a city so my property taxes are the same as MA, I only pay $4,800. Local business' make up the difference. I only pay $250 to register my cars.....same as I paid in excise tax in MA. My house would have cost an additional $100,000 in MA as well.

But...I save $7,000/year in MA income tax and probably another $4,000-$5,000 in sales tax.

Alcohol and cigarettes are much cheaper here than MA. We get a lot of business from south of the border. All lottery proceeds go to education, and tourism is a big money-maker. But as you pointed out, property taxes get much higher in rural areas. Two towns over a friend pays about the same property tax as you with only a slightly bigger house than me. We also get tax breaks if we open our land for public use......hunting.

Not to mention there's the whole "living in Massachusetts" crap I don't have to tolerate anymore. Stupid state. I came to NH as a political refugee. Different lifestyle up here, it suits me better.

I don't think for a second that adding a state income tax will affect any other taxes we pay, especially if Democrats are behind them.

I'll be voting for it. It's not a perfectly run State but it works. This is especially true compared to Mass, but Maine's not far behind. It's more of a quality of life thing than a tax issue with me anyway, as important as it is.

250 to register a car? Is that for life? It's about $50 a year here in TX. sdepends on vehicle value. My bikes are cheaper.
