Obama has been wearing a Jorg Grey 6500

http://www.amazon.com/Jorg-Gray-6500-Series-Chronograph/dp/B002CQ92R2?tag=5336121778-20

Romney lately has been wearing a Seiko Kinetic as well as a as yet unidentified black watch with a black face and black strap. Anyone know what that one is?

Ironic the rich guy is wearing a cheaper watch than the "middle class" President.

Unlike guns, knives, watches, sportscars and motorcycles...dresses are not cool.

George W. Bush wore a $50 Timex Indiglo.

Hey, I like watches. Watches are functional pieces of kit and every man should have one on him at all times.

Speaking of which has anyone seen the Garmin Fenix? Pure awesome.

Unless they're really short/skimpy and on hot chicks

Okay, back to watches.....

The one GAcop posted seems to look like the one in the Romney pics.

Wouldn't surprise me, but the Jorg Grey was actually a customized gift from his security detail and it's now the only watch I've ever noticed him wearing.

While I don't care much, I'm not a fan of the trend of recent presidents trying to seem more like a common man with their watch choices. I find it borderline sad that my daily wearer is nicer than what Obama or Romney wear in public, and I'm about as far from wealthy as you can get without being on gov't assistance.

The president of the United States is the most powerful leader on the planet, wear something classy. (JLC Reverso would do the trick, prestigious, recognizable, all while not being showy)

This trying to seem normal is trying to fake it. Buying a quality but understated watch (like the JLC mentioned) that will hold its value a bit also says something about a candidates image.

I would however be fine with a thread discussing the first ladys 'Bow Caster'

TV back then did not show the world anything beyond you had a watch on, and people expected the President to be a successful man with nice things. Today it is part of the managed appearance of the candidate and a President must appear to be a normal dude. I bet Obama had focus groups to determine which watch to wear.

Why provide ammunition for the opposition to skewer you on the Rich Guy With Expensive watch spike?   It's a risk/reward thing, and most people realize this.
