I figured it was a juvenile copperhead, although the markings aren't what I've seen before.

Hmm. I've never seen them around the house. Green grass snakes and such, never one copper in color. Hmm.

He's probably feasting on the frogs, lizards, and bugs. I'm averaging a snake-a-day while I work on the backyard and seeing lizards and frogs everywhere.

Either a Rat Snake or Chicken Snake which hell they maybe the same freaking thing.............
ETA: Yellow Rat Snake AKA: Chicken Snake is our southern slang for them....

Well, regardless. When I reached in the wheel barrel to pick up the piece of wood it was sitting on, I made an unmanly noise.
Upon closer inspection, it was docile and not a copperhead. He now resides on the other end of the yard.
Just came here for some snake ID and input.

king snake - if i recall, garter's are greenish in color...king snakes are red...
look at the head - if it doesn't have the viper shaped head, most likely isn't venomous...
