I've been looking for a wommians soft shell jacket for the wife that is close to the TAD or Blackhawk type softshells.

Who makes some ?

I've looked at the Under Armor and North Face jackets, what else is there besides those?

Depends on your wifes build too.

Athletic cut - Arcteryx hands down. Long armed and tappered torso make it my personal favorite and fits my GF great since she is similar build. Check out Mammut too if you want something different in this category
Mountain hardwear/Patagonia/REI/ Outdoor Research- Semi Athletic cut - decent length arms and body is more fitted
North Face/Marmot - Non Athletic cut. Shorter arms/body size.  They do have some variants though that work well.

Make sure you get the Wind-stopper version.

Unblelievably we just found a great one at Costco. North Face is over done, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware and most Arcteryx are still good to go.

well do you want looks or quality?

Helly Hensen is amazing stuff but spendy.  highly recommended.

Oakley has some slick jackets as well.  check oakley.com and oakleyvault.com for heavy discounted stuff.

check steep and cheap too.  i see tons of womens jackets and shells on there that are really good deals.

I'd go to REI and try a few as sizing varies. Windstopper is a huge plus. I wear mine to about 20 degrees before I need more. I have a couple Marmot's and a couple Mountain Hardwares. I also have a North
Face Denali but it doesn't get much wear as it's just too warm and not windproof. though I think the monkey woman is cute for the ladies. Costco has the Kirkland brand for $50 or some similar low price I saw yesterday and it looks like a good value.

In addition to REI, check out moosejaw.com

ETA, once you know sizing and style, check for last year's colors as these items get discounted 30-60%

Outdoor discount and liquidation places usually have tons of women's stuff.  Take a look on sierratradingpost.com also.

My absolute favorite softshell I found at a factory outlet store, was some generic brand marked.  Waterproof/breathable with a brushed fleece on the inside.

Sorry for the wait to reply.

She is 5"7 and 125 pounds. Id call it a normal build i guess.

I'm looking for something quality that also looks good but not overly tactical looking.

Price point is under $200 if possible.

And thanks for all the replies so far.
