| Went out and watched it after work on Friday. Quantum leap improvement over the Stallone POS. Gritty and dark, but not oppressively so. Dredd manages to squeeze out a line or two of deadpan humor, and his partner, Anderson, is infinitely better-looking than Rob Schneider. Give Karl Urban some serious credit for being able to act with just the lower half of his face (once the helmet goes on during the opening credits, it never comes off). The Slo-Mo shots were kinda neat, Lena Headey makes for a good enough bad guy, Avon from 'The Wire' gets a meaty role as a captive henchman, but the ginger IT guy freaked me out a bit. Did I mention that Anderson is purdy? Definitely worth your cinema dollars. |
