Not to derail, but old-school conservatives (Nock, et al) would give you a very strong argument against pledging allegiance to anything.

They might even say that the govt. should be pledging allegiance to The People, and not vice-versa.

She's plays the role of "conservative pundit / opposing viewpoint" on CNN from time to time, a real hack. I think they only hired her because she's easy to beat up on
