So about 6 years ago I bought a couple rack mountable Cyberpower 1500VA UPS's.  Within weeks of each other, they have both died a terrible smelly death.

Now I need two more, but this time they don't need to be rack mountable, and don't need to be nearly as powerful.  I need one for my PC, and one for my server.

I've always been told that nobody ever got fired for buying APC stuff, so I was looking at getting a couple of these.  Link

Good choice?

I have the 1250VA version

Although I've been having issues with it. I've had the unit replaced twice and the batteries replaced about 4 times already and I just had another bad battery alarm yesterday.

It's all been covered under warrenty so far.

We have 35 of APC USP's scattered around the WAN in various server and comm closets. Mostly rack mounted 1000 and 1500's. We lose 4-5 batteries a year. Only had one unit actually go toes up on me and it was a smaller 750 unit in a closet most folks had completely forgotten about until it dropped out.

Worst issue I've had with them is replacing swollen batteries. It can make it a bit of a pain to get them out of the unit.

The newer APC's have a rather nice, and easy to configure, set-up screen on them.

Looks like a good unit for the price.

My 2 cents...

We run APC exclusively at work and I have never had a actual unit die....Just batteries.

And yes swollen batteries suck

I prefer their Smart-Ups line.

I've had to drill out rivets on old 1400s to get the batteries out.  They all went back into service.  I can count on one hand out of the hundereds of them that I worked on how many actually went bad.

APC is good to go in my experience.

I have never used the "consumer" class UPS's from APC but I have used hundreds of the smartups line from them at work and I don't remember ever having one actually die, just batteries, usually go with replacements from Gruber power services.  For my home stuff I usually buy the empty units off ebay for 50$ or so and put 50$ worth of batteries in em.  I have two of their 1500va Smartups's now.   Yeah swollen batteries do suck but you can take the whole thing apart to get to them.  I haven't used the LCD ones but considering that the ones I have worked so well I would assume they are good too.
