So I'm looking at possibly getting a rowing machine for the wife and I to work out on this winter.  Have looked a bit at the machines available on Amazon prime and some seem good.  Also have been looking at craigslist but haven't really seen much there.

Basically want something that the wife and I can use without having to leave the comfort of home.  I've been riding a bicycle a lot recently and thats nice.  Just feel like I get a better full body workout on the rowing machine.

So basically I'm lookin go get a rowing machine that will be solidly built.  Size isn't an issue and just want something that wont break and we can both use a lot.

Anyone got advice?

My advice is this .....don't buy it..... you will just throw clothes over it .... join a gym or crossfit...

Just buy some dumbells. Weight lifting, even small ones, is way better than any other type of exercise. I am 63 and lift every day.

Hire someone that is small, portable, possessing a Napoleon complex and a remarkable understanding of foul language. Nothing short of that can motivate me to get back on an erg or into a rowboat. Shit, I still get nightmares from the boating accident

These are great.  I don't know how much you've used them but proper form will help out tons with the workout.  The concept 2 site has a lot of good info.  I learned a lot about those things from my sister and her fiance; both collegiate rowers.

I bought one for my wife after our first kid.  She rowed the heck out of it and lost a ton of weight.  Low to little impact, total body workout, awesome cardio workout.  Easy to develop a routine that you can tailor for long steady fat burns and intense cardio workouts.  Think I paid $1200 new thru Amazon with free shipping.  You could find a used one and order replacement parts online.  I don't think that it has an equal in the market.

If you're not in shape now it's a great way to ease into a fitness lifestyle and achieve your goals.
