The word "fair" is not mentioned once in the United States Constitution. So why do so many think this country is based on "fair", and what is "fair"?

Milton Friedman frequently said this.

He said he doesn't want fairness, he wants freedom. If you have fairness, who decides what's fair? If my guy decides what's fair it will be great for me, but it may not be for you.

I've heard FBHO use this word until I'm sick of it, and I'm sick of him.

It looks to me like those that want things to be fair really just want.

People conflate equality with fairness.

"Fair only exists at kiddie schools and college campuses."

A biologist friend always says we are just animals.  Animals rarely coddle or help the weak, they eat them.

PC bullshit run amok is what has been taught, and that is not reality.

Lots of good people here yet.

Fair is a concept best used to keep children from fighting.

It has no place in the adult world.

Life is not fair ....... deal with it.

One lesson I hated as a kid but my dad would repeat over and over....... he was right.

It looks to me as if freedom is fairness but the opposite is anything but.

You should eat him in order to teach him a valuable lesson.

Eat, not eat.

Plus, I assume some kind of BBQ would be involved.

I hate one of Romney's ads.  The one about China's manufacturing ability compared to the US.  He uses the phrase:

“It’s time to stand up to the cheaters and make sure we protect jobs for the American people.”

I also thought he shipped quite a few jobs over there during his reign.  Is this the smartest ad he can come up with?

Anyone talking about making things fair is really pushing to make things unfair, to their own benefit.

"Fair" is a one-sided word used by preschool teachers and socialists to take something away from someone else and give it to a third party. Is it fair to little Jimmy that teacher took his toy away and gave it to the other kid who didn't have a toy? Fuck no.

"Mutually Beneficial" is the phrase life uses. Kids in the schoolyard away from the teachers understand this. Little Jimmy wants little Tommy's toy, and Tommy wants Jimmy's toy... so they trade. The trade is mutually beneficial and both parties are happy. Meanwhile the grubby kid without a toy continues on without a toy, but perhaps he starts to learn that he should work hard to get a toy rather than depend on teacher to take the other kid's toys away and give them to him.
