Well, I'm certainly no physicist, but I think I understand how it works.

You're going about it the wrong way, in an abstract sense.

You need to know how far KIT [i]HAS[/i] to jump.

Then, the answer will be, he can jump JUST that far, maybe even hitting the object slightly with its rear wheels.

Did that make sense?

I don't know that it makes a difference. He could go 300 mph before he got refitted with the SPM equipment. I don't know what it did besides taking him from a totally sweet '82 Trans Am to a rolling freakshow. That big back end would also play havoc with the aerodynamics.
