We got five hours of edited coverage on the same obscure cable network that carries the Tour De France

Probably because they didn't give him something else, he had to earn that 2nd place.

Pistorius won the 400 m
I'm surprised it hasnt had more coverage

USA was only 6th in the medal tables
The 100m freestyle swimming was won by an American who lost his eyesight only 12 months ago in an IED in Afghanistan.

Over here every event has been a sellout, 80,000 in the stadium and venues full elsewhere, as well as 6 channels devoted to it

It's sad that your TV channels haven't given it any air time, as it's been ezcellent

If it's not one of the big 3 or NASCAR, it doesn't get coverage in the US. If you like anything else you've got to resort to taped, edited, delayed coverage or reading a feed or twitter to get live coverage.

Glad Oscar finally won something.

National Public Radio had some interviews with athletes and discussed the origins of the games. It's our extremely left wing partially government funded radio network

National Public Radio –– very liberal, but have talked about it some in the hourly news updates, and their discussion shows

Listening to the BBC World Service on NPR, and on satelite, the BBC has been covering these constantly

ETA:  I did here that Alex Zanardi was competing in the hand cycle races at Brends Hatch
