Maybe we should have "Commonwealth Bash Day" so we can consolidate the threads....

I can see a doctor within an hour's notice.
ER visit is less than 20 minutes wait if I'm not dying. Broken bones and bleeding wounds are treated STAT.
My 85 year old mother had emergency surgery 15 minutes after the ambulance got her to the ER, she's doing fine.

Obamacare is a scam. Comparing it to Canadaian healthcare is a downright travesty.

You are comparing a travesty to a travesty.

Sure, emergencies are treated stat.

But you know damn well you can sit on waiting lists for a year + for non-emergency care or chronic illness. My father waited a year and a half for a hip operation. My mother a year for a cataract op.

And you are stuck in the cue. You legally cannot "jump" it ie pay for it instead of the system paying for it. The only way to speed things up is to leave the country and pay yourself.

+1

I grew up in Canada and now live in the U.S.  I've experienced both systems from both the patient and doctor's side.  Some people choose to see what they want to see.

DanTSX was correct in that thread:  The Canadian national anthem sounds way better in French, and is a better anthem than the American one.  I just looked up the lyrics and they're quite different in the French version!:

Lyrics in French

O Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.

Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix.

Ton histoire est une épopée,
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
