| My cabinets are going in tomorrow and I'm in need of counter tops, so... Looking at the usual suspects granite, Corian and Silestone, anyone have constructive input on what to go for or avoid. |

I went with the Corian a couple of years ago. Just couldnt swing the extra $ for granite. Im more than satisfied with it. Around my parts, Corian and granite are nearly identical in cost. Here too, I was going to use Corian as an alternative. Looking at quartz now, my GF sent me a picture of one that was the color I wanted. OP: if you plan on selling your house/want to make it more attractive to a future buyer, go with granite. That is the advice from real estate and builder friends. |

Pre fab granite comes from Italy and China. It comes in the standard sizes and edges. I went with thick granity for my residence, but don't have a problem with the others. |
| Interested too as we're hoping to replace ours soon. I like the pattern of granite better than most examples of quartz I've seen, but keep hearing it's more low maintenance. I hear granite needs to be sealed periodically, but one dealer says that now it only has to be done one time after installation and it's good. |

Came across that while I was shopping for kitchen upgrades. Figured the kitchen can be radioactive as long as the recliner isn't, I'll be ok. |
