Fuck ebay in their fuckin california ass. I have been using their shitty service since the beginning of time cuz I like to sell shit to arr tards and buy shit kickers when I am hammer drunk. I went to list some random items this evening and the fuckwads now require me to put a credit card on file for "buyer protection". Fuck that. Some asshat scammer or shitbag cock face with buyers remorse ain't getting their got damned money back. You want to run an auction site run a fuckin' auction site. If you want to run a walmart of the internet which it seems to be your main interest now count me out.  Fleabay you may no longer leech of my sales of random shit to random fuck bags. I'll take my chances with getting raped and my kidneys stolen on craigslist... at least them kalifornia hippies let me use their shit for free!

Well.... in 2030 their patent will expire, and others can do on-line auctions too.  In the meantime, we're all screwed.

Mostly, I've written Ebay off.  Their fee's are way too high.  As in, way too high.  And it's very difficult to find a good deal on things I actually want.  Mostly, I use Ebay for cheap crap from China like USB cables and phone chargers.

And screw them for not allowing feedback except for a ridiculously short period of time.  Last two times I bought something ebay, I almost left negative feedback and almost filed a dispute since the clock was running out.  I got screwed the two times before that and wasn't allowed to leave negative feedback so I didn't want to miss my chance.  Fortunately for the last two items, I received them, but I came very close to leaving negative feedback when it wasn't deserved.z

I would sell the shit on the EE but honestly to move two pairs of pants, a shitty slide stop and ambi safety and a book it isnt worth the hassle. Ebay use to be the I'm bored and gunna throw this shit out might as well sell it to some clown shoe kinda deal.

Well that makes some sense...

How much for some clown shoes? I left my pair at a friends house a few years back...

Get a pre-paid Visa and put it on file. Leave $25 in it. Winning.

Right.  Put a credit card on file and then cancel the card a few weeks later.  They'll never know.

I'm far more un-thrilled about the final value fees they've been charging.   For a lot of sellers, it probably eats up their entire profit margin.

I wonder if you can even use one that has been used up? I know some sites will accept them as long as they are a legitimate number.

If you are selling silly shit from around the house, Ebay is not the right venue for you, stick with EE or CL, etc. Have a damn yard sale. If you have a volume of goods to sell, get signed up with an Ebay program that fits your business and it works for you. The amount of exposure / advertising that they have in place is hard to compete with elsewhere, and as a large volume seller they tend to be more willing to work with you as needed.

I did $100k+ in sales my first  six months, with less than half of my available inventory listed. That was with zero Ebay education. Now I like to think I have the program dialied in and my sales number reflect that. Gotta learn to use the system...

First when you could no longer buy/sell reloading componets(brass, bullets etc.etc) I was pissed.

The final straw came when they mandated that the sellers couldn't take USPS money orders and that it had to be PAYPAL...Who are they to say what a seller will or will not take?

Lots of ways to get around EBay's info requirments but I'll just keep those to myself.

EBay is great for a seller like me that buys a item for a few bucks at a yard sale/flea market and sells it for a enormous profit. The EBay/PayPal fees are not much of a much then.

It's also a great place to sell vintage gun parts.

I just parted out a T/C muzzle loader there and got more for it (after fees) than I could have selling it whole.

Don't you have to have a CC on file to be a seller?  It made me do this in like 1997.

The no brass or bullets chapped my ass as well. I bought a good bit of reloading supplies via Ebay. With the gun parts now listing, I would not be surprised if the brass and hulls made a return in the future.

The no PMO is part of the Buyer Protection Program. By using PayPal, or a credit card, the Buyer has the means to counter a sale gone bad, a non-shipped item, etc. Given the volume and variety of Selers on Ebay, I would not care to mail PMOs

If memory serves you don't if you have your bank account tied into your seller account. That said some requirments were grandfathered.

I don't have a CC tied to my account and never have. I know you can add one to make a purchace and then remove it.

How much do you figure you need to make on each sale to consider it worth your time and effort?

I pretty much doubled my yearly income (referenced to my regular job's pay) via ebay sales last year.

I wish I had more of that stuff to sell.  I have only a little inventory left,  and I'm treating it as a reserve cash fund,

to be turned into cash when I really NEED it.   But I should probably do that now and just shove the money into an

interest bearing account instead.

Their fees are too high. Otherwise,  ebay works.

I've sold $8000+ plus in last 8 years

I'ved learned to check completed listings before listing an item to see if it's worthwhile to sell.  If it's a choice between donating or tossing something vs getting $2-3 for it, I'll spend the 10 minutes to take a picture, enter into Turbo Lister, then list it.

You can list 50 items a month for free, and every now and then they have a special where you can dump up to 50,000 listings for free.

Beginning of each month I'll list 50 items, duing the 50K free period, I'll dump the entire contents of Turbo Lister to auction.

Just sold some catalogs for anywhere from $8 to $13 each
