Hello! I have been looking for a program to edit videos I have recorded using my GoPro. I have been using iMovie on my Mac which has been great but I am unable to burn the videos to a DVD in HD. I have been doing a lot of research but the more research I do the more confused I get haha.
Does anyone know of or use any programs out there similar to iMovie I guess that allows you to burn the videos you created in HD? I am not sure if I will need to get a program to replace iMovie completely or just get a program that would allow me to burn HD DVDs created in iMovie. North Fork Payette Here is a quick example of a video I created and uploaded to YouTube but now I want to get videos similar to this on a DVD. We recently did a 7 day white water raft/kayak trip on the Main Salmon in Idaho but the video I put together is a little over an hour and is obviously WAY to big to upload to YouTube. Thanks in advance for your help and I apologize if what I am asking doesnt really make sense. I feel like I have a hard time explaining what I am looking for |
| Ohhh so there is no way to burn an HD DVD from my computer even though the video was filmed in 1080p? I am able to burn it using this program I downloaded called "Burn" but its definitely not in HD. I thought my Mac would be able to burn in HD with the correct DVD. |

Sony Vegas does all of that. But if you are going to spend large bucks, buy Adobe Premiere. It has more stuff. But vegas is quick and easy to do simple edits. I have a directors account on youtube, my vids can go over an hour. In HD. I use good old bloated nero to burn my HD vids onto DVD. It shrinks them, due to size constraints, but looks OK. If the source file, and the rendered file looks good, the rest is easy. |

Thanks skankwhisperer. It looks like you cant have that type of YouTube account anymore but there may be other options like becoming a partner or something. I will look into that and the two programs you mentioned, I am willing to pay a decent amount for the program because they way I see it if you're going to spend $300-$400 for a GoPro you might as well buy a good program to share your experiences.
Subnet, thanks for your feedback as well. It would be best if I could create a physical DVD because we usually go rafting with groups anywhere from 6-25 people depending on the river or permit. I dont think burning a Blue Ray is the same as creating an HD-DVD from a computer. I guess that would be called a Blue Ray but I dont think its the same as burning a Blue Ray movie. Again, I could be wrong and like I said I am still trying to figure this whole thing out. Thanks again. |

Vegas Movie Studio (a cut down version of Vegas) typically runs for $100 with main in rebates at Frys for $60-80 depending on the version. For simple things it is worth it. As for being "HD", you can not do so on a normal DVD. A DVD can not utilize HD resolutions. Now, if you burn it like a data disc (meaning it won't run in a DVD/Blu ray player) you can put movie files on there. The issue is it will be spread across multiple DVDs. Though this would be considerably more difficult and you will loose functionality like the main menu, ect. |
