I'm glad to see they got the funding for the museum. I hope they can pull it off.

Can I tell you what hte problem with Tesla is... This is a perfect example of it. Some of you ubergeeks even though it was done with good intentions have elevated this mans legacy literally to the point where is regarded as being a man who is about 2/10s of an inch short of an all out deity. You guys credit him with literally every single notable discovery or invention or germ of later invention ever made, and then go went on suggest that his brilliance was so overwhelming and unpparalled that he has also discovered and/or proved with actual experimentation dozens of existing theoretical ideas which only exist in the minds of some of the worlds most brillian people even today, but that he was so damn marst that he simply forgot to or didn't care enough to writ them all down. so now, those of us who base our beliefs in reality are faced with the problem of trying ot wade through the 100+ years of tall tales and folklore to try to figure out what the man actually did, what he may of done that was decades ahead of his time, and what are the things tha tyou nerds just imaginee he probably did or could of done but never acutally knew for sure. so really what we have now is a man whose actual legacy is completely smeared in large part becaues people with no business declaring who or what the man is actually responsible for building or helping have falsely lent his name to nearly everything imagineable whether it be completely theoretical or fictitious or not. did you know Tesla invented the first time machine? seriously he came to my house with it last week and showed me... trust me dude it was tesla that guy was ridiculously smart he did it trust me. fuck edison that capatalist pig, he killed kitten and puppies and other small animals that he stole from young childre, you know what that means right?... trust me it was in a cartoon I read, the guy was really the unabomber he stole teslas time machine to do it, he was an asshole, trust me. |

I would also say that Tesla himself contributed to the folklore by making public claims with no proof to back them up. He made many claims of inventions that were lost when his lab burned down, or ideas he had in his head years back but never wrote down. There is no doubt he was brilliant, as A/C power proves, but I also think his mental illness made him delusional and prone to exaggeration. Or part of the stories may have just been an effort at PR, trying to compete against Edison and trying to gain funding for his work. |

Quoted: I've heard stories that there papers of his that sre hidden and guarded by the gov't? True? I am currently reading "Tesla: Man Out Of Time" after seeing it listed in the Oatmeal cartoon. According to this book, following the end of World War II Tesla's library of notes was sent to Belgrade, Yugoslavia where he was originally from. In Belgrade a museum was created to house the archive, and the Communist government limited access to the archive. Unfortanatley the author of the book has a strong bias in favor of Tesla, and she doesn't try very hard to hide this bias in her work. In many parts of the book I feel that the author has fallen for the myth of Tesla more than any solid fact. |

With NY state matching funds. Garbage.
