| Stupid question. A friends daughter just got arrested for shoplifting. CPS has her son at this time. She's a LVN. Will she lose her state nursing license over this? |

Quoted: I have seen M.D.s get arrested for a lot worse and still not have their license yanked. Probably not so much looseing the license that's the problem as getting fired when you don't pass the yearly criminal back round check at work Doctors are harder to fire obviously ![]() |

Probably
Pretty sure they do a criminal back round check every year Yup just depends on how anal they are about keeping BG's current.....Stupid fucking move and a waste of an education ETA: Might survive it with a formal reprimand and or suspension. If it's her first and only arrest she'll plead First Offender and in 5 yrs get her record esponged and be ok........(yeah I fucked the spelling) |

Quoted: I have seen M.D.s get arrested for a lot worse and still not have their license yanked. There is a very different stick by which nurses are measured versus doctors. Just a small for instance: Doc orders wrong drug for you, it interacts with another and you die? Nurse likely to lose license for not catching the Docs screwup and Doc slapped on wrist and facing malpractice, but keeps right on working. |

If she reports herself to her Board of Nursing then she will likely receive some type of discipline or censure, if she tries to hide it and the Board discovers this then they will remove her license altogether.
Crimes of an immoral or fiscal nature are judged very seriously in nursing considering the vulnerable nature of our patients. |

Only true if the nurse knowingly administered a medication that he/she knew was the wrong med, and knew there was a potential for interaction. And trust me, depending on the screw up, the doc will face much more than simply a slap on the wrist... |
