Saw this while driving on my way home this morning.

Poor bastard doesn't know what he has waiting for him when he gets to his next stop. I thought about trying to tell him, but I figured he'd probably think I'm nuts if I pulled up on the side of him flapping my arms trying to imitate a bee.

A hitchhiking swarm- that's a slick way to get a new colony moving!

How in the world?! You would think they would all fly off. Honey bees are generally tame though, hopefully he saw it before messing with the load.

Exactly what I was thinking. But I am sure they will be killed out of ignorance.

OP is in TX. Possible those are africanized bees.

Given the current state of regulation, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get hit with a fine from the USDA or someone else for illegally transporting or something....

They swarmed, and the queen probably found the rolled up tarp on the truck where it was parked and decided it was a good place for a hive.

Nonsense, if that was true, they would have swarmed the OP's car and caused a massive
pile up on the road.

Could the truck have been used to move a load of bee hives?  I've seen trucks loaded with hives before.

Still nothing from TBK?

I'm curious as to what would be the procedure for relocating these critters if found.

If you had balls, you'd gently pick them up and carry them to a new box!
They are swarming; the queen is somewhere in the center of that mass.

They will all go where she goes, and are usually pretty docile when swarming.

When I was a teen I found a swarm on a branch in the woods, gently cut the limb off with a pruning shear, and carried it home. (No suit or hood!)
My uncle kept bees in wooden box hives on our farm; I called him and he told me which box to put them into. I forget all the details.
(Basically started a new colony. And didn't get stung once.)

But these were probably a strain of the gentle Italian honeybees, not those mean Halfrican bastards...

That's what I'm thinking.  The tarp, etc... tough to shed them all.

I was in stop and go traffic a few months back in my Jeep––between two such semis.  Not a good day to leave the windows at home.

See, this is how good bees go bad.

Starts with the hitch hiking.

Then it's casual drug use.

Next thing you know, they are stealing cars and robbing banks.

And when they go down, their queen is crying and saying "Mah bayBEES dint do nuffin!"

Looks like a very healthy swarm.  Concern for Africanized honeybee is very valid in Texas.

I wish I could scoop them up and put them in a hive.  I've got two hivebodies built up and waiting in case I find a swarm.

I find it odd so many grown men are afraid of a bunch of bees. They're bees, they're generally harmless.

Ya'll will carry guns but, are skeered of some bugs whose main weapon is a very small needle which causes a welt?

That is one of the times she gave away cars to everyone in the audience.

My mom made sure that I watched it when it repeated.

I tried to tell her that Oprah did not buy the cars and they were donated for advertisement purposes. All of them were previous year left over cars. All a win win tax write off for both the manufacturer and HARPO.

It wasn't free because of the federal, state, and local taxes that the new owners had to pay.

She still thinks that the cars were free.
