I searched first. Hopefully it's not a dupe..
http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/future_tense/2012/08/facebook_should_be_nationalized_to_protect_user_rights_.html When nationalizing the company restores the public trust, that controlling interest could be reduced. There are three very good reasons for this drastic step: It could fix the company’s woeful privacy practices, allow the social network to fulfill its true potential for providing social good, and force it to put its valuable data to work on significant social problems.

But I agree it's a ridiculous idea.

One step closer to really being the secret police / big brother / government data on citezens Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Boy if that isn't the most blatant attempt at it...I don't know what is. I'm honestly surprised no one has created a new Facebook...like Facebook is quickly becoming what people hated about MySpace...so where's the next Zuckerberg to create the new Facebook?

![]() fuck me running, that's about the dumbest thing I've heard this year. Yup, that'd come pretty close for me too. Maybe because it is so globally popular it shouldn't be nationalised by the USA, but instead it should be UNalised ? and control handed to UN, they will protect us. [It's for the children!!] [After all it is only organisation in the world that makes the US government look even slightly effective in comparison] |

Quoted: Let'em nationalize it... I could give a fuck. If it does happen to be- a socialist's dream- just delete your profile or whatever the hell it is called and don't use it. That would make the most sense except Didn't they say that now that NOT have one you are considered suspicious? |

Pretty sure facebook doesn't let that happen. Once you're on facebook, you've given up a substantial amount of information. This genius feels we're safer in the hands of the government. I suppose many would come to the same conclusions considering government's impeccable record on civil rights. |

Let's nationalize everything. Fuck it. One airline, one car company, one Facebook. Why the fuck not? You'd think the Soviet Union was some obscure history. Dude............. That was like 20 years ago man. 20 years! I mean what do you want to talk about next, stick shifts and carburettors? You're probably one of those nutjobs that believes there were black and white TV's too.

Let’s Nationalize Facebook
Only then will the social network protect users’ rights and share valuable data with researchers. Wait a minute, since when did The Onion start publishing articles on Slate? Hard to imagine that the rest of the article could live up to the monumental stupidity contained in the title ... but it does. |

All citizens must have an active account. Social interaction is good for social order. It's a public health matter. You don't want to be fined, and remanded for psychiatric observation, do you, Citizen? Good. Now, we shall increase your chocolate ration from one half ounce to three eighths ounces. |

Glenn Beck was predicting / hypothesizing this VERY thing shortly after the IPO was proven less than expected.
It wouldn't suprise me if the whole damn thing is planned. This administration is PLAYING FOR FUCKING KEEPS, in every move they make. NOTHING happens that is not calculated and game planned out to fucking destroy this country. ... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

![]() I don't and won't do Facebook. If you want something to be private, don't post it on the internet.
Did anyone pick up this jewel on the same page: This morning I dropped her off for band camp and she accidentally left her phone in the car. When I discovered it, I texted her with it, saying I had her phone.* Then a few texts caught my eye, and I snooped. It turns out my daughter is sexting with a couple of boys, sending naked pictures of herself over her phone.

If the government had issued some edict in '05 or so saying "you must sign up for this service with your true identity and regularly type in your current activities, family status, relationships, likes and dislikes..".. there would have been a revolution. But no, let's just leave this here. Because the vast majority of people are idiots and will voluntarliy provide all of that and more, more than anyone wants to know. But there are people who want to know. And they ain't your friends.
Sweet, trusting, retarded children. Go play now, update your status. Go on, go... |
