What's the deal with Google Chrome? I had to go over and fix my BIL's computer a week or two ago, and found Chrome installed. Uninstalled it and got everything back working again.
Now my wife comes in today and wants me to look at her computer - says when she tries to open a link in an email it freezes. Yup, she had installed Google Chrome (without even knowing she did it). It was conflicting with IE and causing a freeze. Uninstalled it and everything works fine now. It seems Google sneaks Chrome into all kinds of stuff so that you install it without knowing ... it's usually a checked box that you have to uncheck to keep from getting it. Same with Google Toolbar, btw. Neophytes install this crap without knowing it, and often as not it fucks up their computer. I don't know why the geniuses at Google can't do things right, but if you're having computer problems, check to see if you picked up Google Chrome or Toolbar somewhere along the line. They're worse than a virus IMO, and better uninstalled. |

Firefox cut down and optimized for Windows. So far I like it, no crashes, runs smooth. I gave up on Chromium variations due to the lack of some basic features and extensions that I'm addicted to. |
| I noticed about a week ago when I open a new chrome window it wont load. I have to open a tab, then close the original. When I click on links it will freeze for a long time, and new tabs will be frozen until I click off them. I dont use this comp to go to skeevy sites thats what my laptop is for. I mainly come here, thefuddroad, and a couple others. |

I'm talking two different computers in different places that locked up on Chrome. After it was uninstalled, they run fine. No other changes necessary. Call it user error if you want, but facts is facts.
As a side note, both PC's are running XP. Maybe it does better on Win 7, I don't know. I use Firefox myself, and have no issues. If you're using Chrome with no issues, I'm happy for you, but it's sucko in my experience. (Also, I know it doesn't install itself. But I've found MANY inexperienced users click on links without understanding what they are, and things like Chrome get installed that way. Everyone knows Google propagates its products by piggybacking onto other downloads and other products. How many times have you almost missed that discreet little checkbox that says "Install Free Google Toobar!"?) |

NO.....so you won't screw anything up, but you can copy your Firefox profile into the PM profile manually or use their tool. |

Or a web browser froze when running IE with google toolbar installed? |

Google Chrome has an ongoing issue with Flash.
There are two different Flash's, one for MS Windows and one for Google. They do not get along. Most of the time the two retards ignore each other, once in a while they go at it. The result is that Google locks up or Windows locks up. You can remove the Windows version of Flash, the Google version will work just fine, although you might get some errors. The biggest issue I had was those ass-fucked Olympic games Doodles that Google had up on their home page. It fucked with my Google homepage to the point where I said fuck it and used Bing. Since Friday the really shitty Doodles are done, so now it's working normally. |

The only time internet explorer is ever opened on one of my computers is to download Google Chrome... I don't mind Firefox either, just found Chrome to be faster to use.
Several years of never running anti-virus/spyware/adware/whatever the fuck new thing there is out now, and yet to ever have a problem. If anyone wanted my data, they would get it, doesn't matter what browser I'm using... I don't care what kind of security/firewalls you are running, it can be bypassed with a bit of work. |

i left FF14 after each update it sucks more and more, switched to Chrome about a month ago - it's been good so far, except the sync between other Chrome browser sucks and so does Google calender, my appts disappear. ![]() An Obvious sign you're on the "Watch List". |
I haven't really had any "problems" with either one.
