That is, coming home with the leftovers.

Do you just munch randomly thru the leftovers and whatever you didn't get to in a few days is tossed or do you take inventory and figure out your changed menu for the next few days, trying to maximize it.....even if might not be stuff that you normally eat?

After I take the dog out again and put my wash in.......and manage not to return to the keyboard.....I am going to try to inventory. At least, empty out the freezer bags in the frig.

I pitch it.  The enjoyment I derive from a clean frige vastly out weighs the foods value.

Mostly it's just eat what's good, and pitch the rest, with the occasional foray into trying to make a meal from it.

Shrimp from a platter
banana pudding
fruit salad
onions
pickles
corn tortilla chips
con casa
tuna fish casserole
fancy noodle something
burger buns

the shrimp and tuna casserole is going into a stew TODAY. The chips will be my soup croutons for a while.....I think they gave at least 80% of a  5 lb bag. The buns will probably consume this week, inbetween those times when I am not cooking stew.

Hmmmm, reminds me of the book "Submarine Diary" where they fled the Philippines with supplies meant for the defenders, surrender came first. They couldn't allow it to fall into enemy hands, so they were told to eat their way through it.

"It's not true. Some of us have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good."

Thank God I don't have children (though the fights between the 4 legged ones today make me wonder if I do)......and judging from the way the divorced women at the party were talking, marriage doesn't seem that hot either.

If kids were eating the chips and casa in the car, it would be rather messy.

As it is, I don't expect the leftovers to last through Wednesday, at least on the main stuff. I'm rather very careful about food poisoning, having picked it up more than a time or two, so I am eating the supplies rather quickly.
