Got a groundhog problem I can't solve with standard methods (city ordinance). So guns are out of the question or the issue would have been solved. Tried a do it yourself Wally World pellet gun and he (and family) looks at me and laughs. I did take out a youngster but dad just laughs at me. He also stays well out of range for air powered weapons. He is fast and darts in his hole when I even crack the door. He is digging tunnels under my shed and foundation.
My enemy needs to go and I need a solution... I know the hive will help me ! |

Used to hunt groundhogs with my granpa. It takes a long time of being very still and that hog will pop his head out of his hole. They can detect the slightest movement
on the ground. We would wait them out sitting in his truck. A headshot with a good pellet rifle will kill them although we usually used a .22lr. Early morning and late afternoon are good times to catch them feeding. They can dig massive underground complexes, figure out his most likely entrance and post up there. You might not recover him if he is close to his hole but you should know if you killed him. I shot one with a 243 at a couple hundred yards and the fucker managed to make it 20 plus yards back to his hole missing most of his guts and heart. He was an arm reach inside his hole. Good luck they can cause a lot of damage to crops or leave large holes for livestock to step in. |

No dag??? My Maggie jumps a 5 foot fence just to kill those fuckers.
Burrow snare with wire. Stake the end of your wire into the ground (tent stake will do) near the burrow, lay your snare around the burrow entrance. Pull the bastard out (if he's still alive) and shovel his ass. Wire and treble hooks, same as snare. Shovel? Fubar? Hammer? Or, put a bowl of antifreeze next to a burrow, as long as no kids or pets are a concern. |

I have, 25cal Maruader. Excellent. I've shot them with .177 and .22 pellet rifles and have never had any success in putting them down. CBs and CB Longs don't work very well either. Aguila Sniper SubSonics work well but they tend to not be very accurate out of the typical .22 barrel. Due to the length, they need a faster twist barrel. |

Dag died of old age last year and is when my problems started. Never worried about varmints as my male lab handled the issue. By fear or death. Did not matter to me as he earned his keep. Now, it is my problem as a family has moved in after Bosco died. In Bosco's honor I want them gone but as a old white guy approaching 50 my options are limited. Yeah, I could blast them and hope for the best but I live in a state not known for conservative values such as my own. |

gasoline and a match My Uncle that passed away last week did this a few years ago. Managed to launch a bald groundhog into orbit. His wife ran out and was freaking out from the blast, it shook the house. Uncle Frank told her it was an earthquake, never told her the truth. Hard to tell how much gas he used. Danny |
| Out here Home Depot sales "Giant Destroyer" the super gasser, they're like little flares. Light one stuff it down the burrow and get your shop vac. Put the hose to blow instede of suck. It will take a couple of times. Look for the furthest smoke coming out of a hole and light another and repeat at that spot. Cover up any holes that smoke is escaping from and the residual will continue to kill. Good luck. |

What do you need to kill him for exactly? Undermining my foundation, almost broke my ankle falling in his tunnel cutting the grass and general asshattery on his part.... ETA: I tried to live with him and it did not work out. Him or me is what it boils down to. |
| Gamo Whisper + Red tipped polymer pellets gives a nice velocity in addition to punch at the end. Stops rabbits and squirrels in 1 shot, placed right, shouldn't be an issue with groundhog. Patience and waiting for them to come back for a good shot is the hard part. |

Google...Conibear.... Also works great for cats, opossum, coon, squirrel, etc...... Pets and kids too. You have to place them in a way that you are 100% sure that you aren't going to catch an unintended target. They are totally unforgiving. Exactly.... Cover it with a bucket and a brick. |
