redoing my bathroom today. bought a light fixture with four bulbs. The previous one had only two bulbs.

Both say to use 100 watt bulbs.

Both have the same gauge wiring .

Am I going to burn my house down going to four bulbs?  I only plan on using 60 watt bulbs in it if that makes any difference.

I don't know. Just looking at the wiring in the old fixture it is the same size as the wired coming out of the new one.

assuming it's 14 gauge wire you are GTG.

ETA: the fixture wire is probably even higher gauge.

You're barely using half of what it's rated for. Shouldn't have any issues at all. Especially when you figure the newer "energy saver" bulbs use even less power.

4, 100 watt lights? You'll be able to get a fucking tan in there!

4 100 watt bulbs, or less, and you will be just fine.

You won't even be drawing 4 amps. Don't worry about it.

thanks guys.

I don't do energy saving bulbs either. Fuck that weird looking light.

Didn't they just figure out those damn things give off skin cancer UV light or some shit as well?

Have you done much wiring I have never seen fixture wire that is bigger than the supply wiring. The smallest wire you can wire a house with is 14 gauge and most fixture wire is 16 gauge
