Bunch of no sense of humor whiners |

Quoted: I am a farmer, and I am going to lose my farm because of global warming. ![]() No, you're going to lose your farm because the climate is in a constant state of flux, and has been since before there were men, and you've bankrolled your worth into a profession which hopes it will be otherwise. |

Yeah dude, bad call on the parody thread. You're gonna get dick-slapped probably. Anyone who starts these stupid parody threads should get at minimum 30 days a lock or ban from GD. I could get behind that, depending on what's being parodied. If it's just harmless jack-assery, that's fine, but this is just shitty. |

I see farms without irrigation and I ask myself why?
Your life blood is in the field, and you depend on weather alone you will eventually get screwed. Should have invested some profits up front for irrigation. Then you would be making absolute bank this year because I'm hearing prices are up. |

| The climate is changing, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that. The climate has been changing for what 4.5 billion years now. The people expecting it to stop or thinking that us little humans can control it are delusional. The people that are blaming humans for all the problems are just as delusional. You ever hear of the Dust Bowl? You know the time in the 30's where there the temperature and drought were so bad the soil blew away and darkened the sky? The "man made global warming" idiots say is happening has only gotten worse since then. So why is it the drought went away? You have one bad summer and think the world is going to end. I bet 20,000 years ago your farm was covered under a glacier, yet you want to blame 100 years of coal use for the temp getting too hot. BTW, I grew up on a farm. You are having one bad year, deal with it and stop whinning like a little bitch. |
| If man can influence the climate enough to cause the Earth to warm to a non-ice age, normal condition for the planet, then I am all for it. Of course, those who rely on a certain climate for a particular activity may have to move in the meantime as the process unfolds. |

I come from 5 generations of rice farmers here in Southeast Texas and southern Louisiana, my grandfather told me stories of severe droughts and heat from when he was a boy and even before that. There were times of milder temps and plentiful rain....it cycles back and forth. I understand the OP's post and frustration. Most of the local farmers have either gotten out of farming all together or have died off and the children either moved off or had other jobs. Farming is a very improtant part of our culture and society and I wish we have many more farms back again. Very few still farm here, my uncle is one of the last.
I believe that our climate is ever changing.....there are peroids of drought and of rain. I think "global warming" is a made up label for something that naturally happens but I do feel for the OP and wish him the best of luck! |

If you lose your farm because of one bad year, you're just a lousy businessman.
ETA: I don't question global warming. There is obviously global warming, just as there is global cooling. The evidence is simple, thousands of years ago, the planet was in an Ice Age. Now it isn't; ergo, the planet has warmed up. What I dispute is the anthropogenic nature of global warming. |

Well, truth be told I don't really care if you ask me anything.
The people who constantly doubt global warming is true and it isn't affecting anyone made me post this. I run a small family farm in middle America. It isn't just a farm, it is the fabric that holds America together. Many business around take their livelyhood from the farming community. When the farmers suffer, the community suffers. I usually have over a million dollars in crops. 65-70% of that depends on rainfall. Sure I make some money doing other jobs on the side, but when these drought conditions caused by global warming happen it knocks my cash flow way down. This year I will be lucky to make a couple hundred grand off of harvest. It just doesn't pay the bills and there will be no more crops until next "season". So for all of you who say that global warming isn't real just know that one of your members is likely to lose his farm that has been in the family for years and all of the satellite businesses who derive their income from the farm economy are going to be out of work as well. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it? And don't take this that I completely believe Al Gore hook line and sinker. I realize that some of the evidence has been falsified, and many scientists are in the tank for ideological reasons, but something has to be done, we can't just keep burning oil and coal like there are no consequences. You guys act like global warming doesn't affect anyone. I am a farmer, and I am going to lose my farm because of global warming.
Can I make one along the lines of "All who say coal isn't necessary, ask a miner who won't make this fall anything?" |
|
Just FYI, liberal/progressives/democrats/climate change nuts don't call it “Global Warming” anymore since the truth came out. It’s called "Climate Change" now. And for you to blame me for climate change and the loss of your farm is insulting and absurd!
By the way, where did you get your solar powered farming equipment/machinery from? Also, what was the response when you demanded that the companies you worked with to get your product out to the consumer use only non-oil burning vehicles/equipment? So I take it when you posted this post you used your solar /wind turbine powered computer?
