I love my iPad....I'm responding to this thread from it.....but for phones.......droid. I upgraded to a Razr Maxx recently and have no regrets....best phone I ever had. Like it way more than the iPhone. Exactly my experience. After using my Razr for several month I can't stand having to use my wife's iphone (which I handed down to her). No comparison. |

I fucking love these threads.
My iPhone 4 works. Every time. But ARFCOM will have you believing that you're a faggot hippy communist for purchasing an Apple product and that you gargle Steve Jobs' semen because you bought a product his company designed. Everyone on ARF is a computer programmer that can program his or her Android phone to do whatever they want and routinely do so in order to control everything from nuclear power plants to the weather. OP: Get hands on with a bunch of phones and find the one that works best you. I hope you have the ability to separate the herp and derp that will ensue in this thread from the meaningful information. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Funny, 99% of the shit I read like you posted above seems to be self-persecution by apple fans/users. You sure do like to blow things out of proportion you faggot hippy communist... oh wait.
OP, play with them both and see what you like. If you don't have a desire and skillset to be a little bit more free and in control of your phone, the iPhone will be just fine... but so will an android. OTOH, if you want more control and less restrictions, android is your choice. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I liked the iOS when I first tried it. Then I bought an iPad and realized that I hated it. It is the most frustrating device I have ever used. Some folks love it, I hate it. The point to this isn't that Android isn't better, it is that the ability to return a device should be considered. Just trying it out won't give you a good indication of how well you will like it putting it to actual use. If you are new to smart phones, either will be fine most likely. |

Quoted: iPhone 4s They are easy to use and don't crash and the iPhone camera curb-stomps Droid phone cameras. Your 8MP camera does nothing to my 8MP camera. But my 4.8 inch screen curb stomps your little 4.3. Samsung Galaxy S3 ftw! ETA: I had a 1st gen iphone and then a 3gs. They haven't changed the look and feel of the operating system through 5 generations, and I guarantee the iphone 5 will look and feel just like the gen 1 OS did. |

Try 3.5 |

Like it way more than the iPhone. Exactly this... I also spend about 99.9% of my "tablet capable" time on the iPad - and love it (this coming from an avid hate-anything-apple kinda guy - who also owns an android tablet...) But can't like the iPhone. Galaxy SIII is the latest/greatest on the Android circuit, RazrMAXX is a pretty good deal, as well. |
| If you've never had a smartphone before I'd go with Android. It has more neat gimmicks and better hardware. Apple has much more polished interface and software, and better selection of apps and games. But if you've never had an apple you won't know what you are missing. |

I just got an iphone this weekend, it's my first smart phone. I'm on my "roommates" plan, I got an iphone mostly because most of my friends went to them. I'm liking it so far. I was told to restart it once a day to prevent problems.
While I was there I fiddled with a bunch of tablets and am glad I got a kindle fire. I got a "lifeproof" case for it that's supposed to be waterproof. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Try 3.5 Oops! My bad! 3.5 is embarrassing... Besides, it's so incredibly easy to root and flash custom roms to the Galaxy S3 a monkey could do it. All the features you want, none that you don't. I got sick of looking at the same old interface after four years on a couple of iPhone models. If I get tired of the look/feel of my S3, I'll just flash a different rom. It's like a getting a brand new phone. |

This, only lemmings buy Apple products. Get a Samsung Galaxy SIII and behold the world free from Big Brother (Apple) choosing what you can and can't do with your equipment, software and media |

It's like a getting a brand new phone. You just made all the iTards heads explode. You could have a massive selection of different phones, from HTC, to Samsung, to Motorola, with vastly different features to fit every need, with different cameras, screen sizes, thicknesses, speeds, and on and on and on, or you could just buy an iPhone. You could develop applications for your own phone, or you could buy an iPhone. iPhone's have a nice little interface that's kind of stale, as it HAS been used for, what, 5 years now? But people know it, it works, etc. If you don't really know what you're doing, and want to see what makes every 13 year old girl think she's a tech genius, get yourself an iPhone. They're idiot-proof. If you want flexibility, power, and options, Android is your answer. |

If you like choice, big screens, or the latest and greatest wiz bang stuff, go with Android: Either the Galaxy S III, HTC Evo 4G LTE/HTC One X depending on carrier, or the Galaxy Nexus. This would be my recommendation to a "technotard" that if they want a bigger screen, and maybe some more features in the camera functions etc. over iPhone. And I agree, iPhone cameras are better than most Droids, but the latest best Droids cameras are better. I personally can't stand iPhone for how it does not meet my needs or desires, but I completely get that "it works" and is pretty foolproof, and most folks don't really ever see, know, or care they're "on the plantation" so to speak. I'd also say the advantages of going iPhone if you've already got an iPad, or iPod Touch and have an iTunes account probably outweigh what is "better" about Android too. Everything then works the same, and the media sharing, backups, contacts etc. is worth it. |

android, it works. More screen real estate, faster performing and better camera in the Galaxy S III over the iphone.
Never understood the whole "Iphone - it works!" slogan that gets thrown out all the time. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II, had it since the day it became avialable and it works. Never had a problem with it. I listen to music and podcasts on it, watch videos like youtube and movies that I've copied off of a DVD, cruise the web, make calls, etc etc. Sure, iphone works, but so does Android. |

Android. iOS is terrible. +1 I have a Droid Bionic and traded it for a iPhone 4S and hated it so bad I took it back after 2 days, got a refund, and reactivated my Droid Plan on keeping the Bionic until something better comes out, however the Galaxy S III looks promising The iPhone has to be paired with a PC for music and apps, and if you wan't music on your phone, it must be on the PC and vice-versa Not to mention you have to pay for your music on iTunes or jump through hoops downloading it on your PC then moving it to iTune To sum it up Apple wants you to pay for YOUR phone, then tell you what you can/can't do with it
You can't even take the factory widgets off the home screen |
I vote for iPhone if you're willing to make some "lifestyle" changes:
These are the basic requirements. If you believe that you can accomplish these things, you will live up to the expectations of your fellow iPhone users and may even graduate to: "Art School graduate with too many piercings who slings coffee while bemoaning the job market". This is the highest honor bestowed upon Apple users...at this point you don't even need a fruit sticker on your Prius, it's just assumed that you're "one of them". Speed |
