Nurse: Did you just get done with PT?
Me: (chuckle)... No, why? Nurse: Your blood pressure is through the roof. You are at 147/74 Me: And Bellows wins the gold!!!! Nurse: This isn't a joke. Me: It's high because I don't like hospitals. Can I go now? Nurse: You can't go anywhere, Sergeant. You gotta stay here until it goes down to at least 138. Me: Can I just run to the shoppette and come back? Nurse: NO. Lie down on the gurney and close your eyes. Try to calm down. Me: OK. Nurse: I'll turn off the light and be back in 10 minutes. Me: Do you have a droid charger I could borrow? No reply. Ugh. Of course now I'm on meds that keep me around 115/70

Take your blood pressure at the Wal-Mart blood pressure thing and write it down along with a date. Do it every time you go shopping no matter if you like the reading or not.
When you go to the doc and your blood pressure if up, show him your log book. It will help a lot in determining if you really have high blood pressure or if you just get nervous around people in white coats. |
