Over $7 to ship something the size of a pea. That's more outrageous. It came in a decent sized box In all fairness that may just be because I chose priority. I would NOT have chosen priority if there was a significantly cheaper option, but the cheapest option was over $6 so...yeah.

Just picked some up at ACE Hardware, got the 2mm hex instead of Phillips head. They didn't have torx, but that shouldn't be a surprise. Still calling Aimpoint about this tomorrow as I would like to know if those things really go for $9 a piece. I saw a spare parts list the a cost of 50 dollars for 4 D-cell batteries. I think companies sometimes price themselves out of a market so they don't have to deal with small parts. I have had customers order parts through me, even though I point out I have to pay full price for the part, and mark it up to cover my time simply because their purchasing is so f'd up they can get it faster ordering from me than going to the supplier and picking it up themselves. |

I'm not sure what you are confused about. The description doesn't say set of mount screws, it says screw, as in one. My confusion came in my lack of understanding the metric thread pattern and screw length part of the description. I saw the "x4" and figured it meant "times 4" as in four metric #3 screws. I realize now that the 4 is merely the length of the screw in mm. I suppose I was seeing what I wanted to see as the body of the Aimpoint has 4 holes for 4 mount screws. That and the fact that at $9 it didn't even enter my mind that it could be just one screw. But thanks for trying to make me feel like more of an idiot. |

Someone on the EE had factory mounts with 4 screws for $20 shipped a few days ago.

Even if Optics Planet got the screw from them, you think they're selling them at cost? I fail to see how that call is going to benefit you in any way, unless you're just trying to check how bad your anal bleed is. Fuck, $16+ for one small damn screw. |

"I am a bit dumbfounded and kind of irritated. I mean, is it just me or does it seem insane that the 4 screws required to attach the T1 to a mount would cost $36 plus shipping?? " The real problem here is that you have failed. A simple search would turn up thousands of vendors who would have supplied you with the same screw for .25c a piece. Barnum was right. |

Im sorry, but the amount of Idiot you are experiencing is appropriate. A long long time ago, in a galaxy far away I experienced something simular. Learning, you are experiencing it. |

Or just got down to the hardware store and buy 4 for a dime each! I would have had I known the specs (length, thread pitch) on it. Now I do so I guess I will, still want to hear from Aimpoint on this though. Could you not take the mount with you and find the right size? |
Last August I had replace the Extractor Spring (3) Not shown is the Extractor Spring Insert (No number). I also wanted to get a spare Extractor Pin (1); I've always had a fear about losing it.
My local FunStores didn't have them. Bushmaster said about $4.00 for the parts with the shipping costs bringing it to $9.50. Armalite said $15+ I couldn't find what I wanted with Colt. Or Model 1 Sales. Or any other AR15 web site I could find. Finally it was Rock River Arms turn. Navigating their web site is a mess. I've had an easier time setting the timers on VCR's. But eventually I tracked down what I wanted: Extractor Spring 50₵. Extractor Spring Insert 50₵ Extractor Pin $1.00 Total bill $2.00 Or about half of what ANYBODY else asked for. Shipping was the cost of the postage: 88₵ on the envelope. The next time I need something that my local Fun Stores can't handle Rick River is going to get another sale.

Most likely. Most of the cost on that screw was labor. they had to pay somebody to retrieve your order from the website, run your card, print the forms, go pick the screw out of the bin, tape together your box, put it in, seal it, generate and print a label, apply the label and move it to the pick up point. All that cost more than the screw. It is the same overhead to pack and ship that screw, or a complete Aimpoint. So to cover it it has to be priced accordingly. Most people will choose to just to to the hardware store and get one, those who don't will pay for them going through the effort instead. |
