Its the weekend and I'm finally able to start building stuff in my new house/garage! Going shooting on a friend's property on Thursday and I don't have any target stands. Solved that problem with some PVC piping and connectors along with some furring strips to staple cardboard targets to the stand.

For about $20 per stand and about an hour to build I'm happy with them. Next up is to take them out and see how they do.

Well those will blow over with every
'puff' of wind. You'll need a way to
anchor them.

That...gives me some ideas.

We are not nice to target stands.  I've cut the legs off a heavy steel stand with an MG42 before.

Even with my stuff, we've killed trees.  Actually shot a tree, that was behind the main target stand, until the tree died.

A bag of steel shot in each one will keep them in place.

Make the base a full loop, and fill it with sand to hold it down.

and, dont shoot it.....

that's what I was thinking. Just cap the spots where the target sticks go in when you're done.

I've never had mine blow over. But a sandbag on the front of the base wouldn't hurt.

I think a hoop shaped (tent) stake would hold them

down well and would be much lighter to tote around.

Nice stands.

Wish I had thought of that.

Be glad you don't live in Kansas. I have to rebuild my target stands and barricades a
couple times a year as the wind totally destroys them.......

I build the bases from 2x6 and they stay put in wind.

Nice job.  I built a similar contraption.   I found that the largest size binder clip works well for affixing targets to the 1 x 2's.
