Okay, we got all these threads around here, "What car do you drive?", "What do you do for a living?" I got one for you. Are the majority of the AR15.com members overweight? C'mon guys, most of you talk about running around saving the nation in time of need, are you phisically fit enough for the task? Or are we all just a bunch of loudmouth, over zealous, armchair warriors? Here's me- 6'3" 220 lbs. 15% Body Fat I'm not the most fit guy out there, but I think I could hold my own. How about you? Here's a guide for you all- Height- Weight- 5 ft. 2 in. 144 lbs. 5 ft. 3 in. 146.5 lbs. 5 ft. 4 in. 149 lbs. 5 ft. 5 in. 152 lbs. 5 ft. 6 in. 155 lbs. 5 ft. 7 in. 158.5 lbs. 5 ft. 8 in. 162 lbs. 5 ft. 9 in. 165.5 lbs. 5 ft. 10 in. 169 lbs. 5 ft. 11 in. 172.5 lbs. 6 ft. 176 lbs. 6 ft. 1 in. 180 lbs. 6 ft. 2 in. 184.5 lbs. 6 ft. 3 in. 189 lbs. 6 ft. 4 in. 194 lbs. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat. So this chart doesn't make you overweight, it's just a guide. |

I can eat big macs, pizza, subs, swanson 'hungry man'dinners (1 pound of food) and never gain weight. The only time I gain weight is when I work out and gain muscle mass. Otherwise I have this metabolism that burns through anything. The only reason I stop eating is because I know that if I don't, I'd end up getting sick the next day. Yes, we all have our crosses to carry... |

Well, I'm not. (6'4" and built like Aaaanold.) Yes, I'm overweight. A lot. I don't waddle and I don't wheeze, but I'm toting a helluva lot more that I ought to be. I have at least a partial excuse - I have a genetic condition that requires that I have a high-carbohydrate diet (thus risking diabetes as I age,) but I sure as hell don't get enough exercise and that's my fault exclusively. |

Fat? nope but I did notice in this pic that I do look like I've got a pack of franks on the back of my neck...[:)]...Gotta get to work on that in the gym. | 5-foot-10 and about 165-167 right now but working on dropping a few more pounds since I'm a runner--albeit getting older and slower by the hour. Still, in pretty decent shape aerobically and about 6.7 percent body fat according to the last test, but definitely not strong enough to bench my own weight right now. Haven't been going to the gym lately; just logging mileage so I can start marathon training again. [:)] |

Happy to say that I've lost 35lbs. since September! I am 5'10". Waist went from a tight 36 to a comfortable 32! I am also proud to say that I have lost this weight while gaining muscle too, as I started excercising again. If I can just get rid of the remnants of this belly, I'll be really happy. |
|
Quoted: Quoted: You left out " Just right ". 6" 200 lbs. [shock] Wow! You must be in the Guinness Book of World Records! If you're only 6 inches tall, how can you weigh 200 lbs? .....or were you measuring something else? |
|
At 603/190, I consider myself just right, but gravity has a small part of that 190 working in the grab handle area. I know if I lost about 10 pounds, the handles will disappear (experence), but I always feel weak and tired at that weight, so I'll stick at 190, and just ride my bike harder as I get older: See my sig line. These charts don't take into consideration body type. I am built like a line backer. 6'0" and 280 lbs.. The chart says that I am 105 pounds over. Wrong. [:|] I am about 50 over my ideal weight of 230 lbs. Hell, I haven't been 175 since... I don't know... 8th or 9th grade? Chris |

Quoted: You left out " Just right ". 6" 200 lbs. I eat like a pig but I only drink WATER ! I think your chart runs a little on the thin side. A little on the thin side? I'm 5'10. Chart says I outta weigh 169... This morning I was 134, fully clothed. I have about 5-8 pounds of fat I could stand to loose too. I think I need to build some muscle? The thing is, I am not one of those little scrawny guys who wears cut off shorts exposing their horried white legs, either. I'm fairly broad in the shoulders, and would be quite well built if I worked out. |

I've always though of myslef as rather skinny. I am 6' even an 175 lbs. That would put me right on pace with that chart. Dang, we have some skinny people on this board! Must be that I spend too much time around guys who work out more than me or something - this thread has been enlightening. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: ? .....or were you measuring something else? Down here in Texas we tell our prospective dates "in all honesty it's pretty long, but skinney. It's only about as big around as a beer can." Seriously, when my son was born he weighed 7# 3oz. at birth and 3# 6oz 3 days later. Had him circumcised. |

The most important thing is your BMI (Body Mass Index). You can find it at http://www.consumerfreedom.com/game_fatchart.cfm I think I even out some of the larger AR15.com members. I'm 5'11", 147lbs, with about 6% body fat. Oh yeah, I eat 3500 calories a day. I do a lot of mountain biking, running, and weight lifting (never going to get like Arnold though) |

do I look overweight to you? Hell I am as healthy as a horse!! Assuming of course that the damn horse has 4 leaking disks and 4 titanium screws in his back[:(] Sgtar15 PS And IMHO I am also increadibly goodlooking!! |
| i am 6'1"265lbs.I am this way because I am physically disabled and am very limited as to the amount of exercise I can do.the wheels part of my screen name is due to a wheelchair for muscular dystrophy and a lung disease from breathing carbide dust on the job.I know I am fat,but That don't mean I like being that way.I was up to 306lbs.I have lost 35lbs and slowly but surely I will lose more. |
| The original height weight charts were made by measuring old men just before they died. Over the years the government has found that people about 20 pounds heavier than these previous measurements were healther than people that meet the measurements. So the government added about 10 pounds to their original measurements. The only way most of us could meet these weight standards is to starve ourselves nearly to death. |
