I just finished a book, "Twenty-five Yards Of War" by Ronald Drez. It has several examples from all of the services of uncommon valor in battle. But what really got me was this prayer in it's preface: "O Lord, we are about to join battle with vastly superior numbers of enemy, and Heavenly Father, we would like you to be on our side and help us; but if you can't do it, for Christ's sake don't go over to them; but lie low, and keep dark, and you'll see the damnest fight you ever saw in all your born days. Amen. --Col. Jack Hays, Texas Rangers, Mexican War" Now, how could one NOT like a book that begins like that???!!!! |
