Ok, i guess. They should have done right when asked instead of it becoming a media issue, then make it right.

today, per news I heard.

Veteran knew the agreement and should have followed the rules, shameful.

I'm kind torn on this one.

On one hand, I feel bad for the guy. On the other when you go with a "budget" provider like Spirit, you can't expect them to provide services like a full price one would.

They DID do right.  Just because someone whines and bitches and catches the attention of the media doesn't mean they deserve to be coddled.

This sort of crap makes me want to become an HOA attorney, so that when some "elderly dying veteran" decides to plant a flagpole in the middle of the Association's lawn, I can chainsaw the fucking thing down and plant it in the lawn of whichever local reporter started spreading the story.

I believe he got the news HE WAS DYING AFTER he bought the ticket, but it would truly be a shame to disrupt the company's "Policies & Procedures" over something as trivial AS DYING!!!

Spirit Air will get about as much of my business as MSNBC or Obama Airlines......

If it were me, I would probably give the guy the money back. However, just because a veteran is dying, I don't see that that obligates a company to provide services to them above and beyond what they provide any other customer.

Being a good fucking human being obligates them to refund the fuckin money......if not for good publicity and PR.  Some of the people in this world are incredible......./shakes head.

I'd never even heard of Spirit Airlines before this.

I bet hundreds of thousands of people didn't either.  But with a quick redemption at the end (refund and donation), Spirit Air is in the minds of everyone who's paid attention to the news the last week or so.

You can't buy that publicity at any price.  And the negativity will be long forgotten in a just a few days, by a flying public driven by, and only by, the low price.

I'd not be surprised at all this wasn't a set up from the get-go, or at least an -on-the-fly marketing effort once the complaint made the news.
