 It seems that the new conservative is more aligned with the Progressive ideology of this guy.... Where do you stand? |

The Progressive Party dissolved in the early 20th century. Not because its ideas where defeated, but because Progressive ideals where so thoroughly assimilated into our political culture. In the late 19th century the ideals of Progressives stood shoulder to shoulder with communism, and socialism. The idea that GOVERNMENT, or the STATE, could and should run people's lives. That somehow people who run government know best how to provide "happiness". Up until then the ideals of individual freedom, PERSONAL responsibility and accountability, where the "American" ideals, not the collective. Both Republican and Democrat Parties are PROGRESSIVE. The Progressives' Foreign Policy IS Nation-building. Today, those who don't support this failed ideology are branded radicals. |
