Actually, I ride because I enjoy it, too. I choose to ride a Harley because it's American. I like the Victory bikes, too. That being said, I have nothing against any other bike maufacturer. Sorry about that (or those) Harley riders that ticked you off. |

I miss it and shouldn't have sold it, but that's another story... That said, I fucking HATED most other Harley riders with a passion. It seemed to be that because I didn't dress the part I wasn't a REAL Harley rider. I'll get another one some day...

There are so many places I could go with this!
For those that ride ANY brand for the enjoyment of riding and the freedom of the experience.......two thumbs way up! For those that ride ANY brand for some status or connection to some group or idea......you're missing the point! (believe me there are both the Kenny Roberts and Sons of Anarchy wanna Be's everywhere) I work in the industry and our phrase is "we are around a lot of 40+ year old adolescents". And, I write this as the wrenches in the background are spinning away on 4 bikes on racks and several on deck to be worked on. Buy what you like, and just ride it. (no, riding to the shop/bar/coffee shop and then back home does not make you a seasoned rider.......but it's a start. Try riding a little farther and explore some roads you've not been on before. You'll probably not brag up your skills like before at the bar, you'll just quietly laugh at those that do and know you have the skills that come with time and experience.) |

I'll get another one too. I liked it for what it was but my tastes changed. They are changing back. I noticed that the Huns and their ilk ride rather distinctive harleys. Old. Plain. Unclean. Usually a Dyna from what I've seen. I find that appealing. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| Its not the brand that im talking about. Every motorcycle is good in my book. Those who ride because they enjoy to ride are good. Its those who feel they must make the most sound, wear sunglasses at night, and ride like they are the only one to ever twist a throttle who bother me |

yes...loud pipes/clutches can save lives.
when they aren't annoying the piss out of everyone who isn't about to run over you. if you ride like you should (where you assume 1 - you are invisible, and 2 - everyone is trying to kill you  ), you can survive without the annoying volume.
but...do what you want. just realize you are disturbing the peace every bit as much as the G's rolling around blasting ghetto rap, and most people would love to see you wreck simply because of the irritation factor of the unnecessarily loud, attention seeking stereotypical harley rider. (caveat) harleys (cruisers in general) are naturally louder than some other bikes. i have no problem with that - it is the obviously modified super decibel douche bags i'm talking about above. cartman said it best - 16 year old girls. |

Only use my pipes sparingly and if I'm pushing through someone's blind spot.

I used to ride a Harley. Before that I rode a Honda. Now I ride a Suzuki.
I'm not a badass - well I was on the Harley but before that I wasn't on the Honda. So.....uh......I wasn't then I was now I'm not. Yeah.
I like Harley-Davidsons and will probably own another one someday. Then I will have regained my badassness. I like motorcycles in general. All types and makes. The badass American in me appreciates the fact that I can own bikes made by the nation who has kicked major ass around the world and I can own and ride bikes made by the people who's asses we kicked. Nothing like American variety. |

I grew up with bows, guns and bikes. My first bike was a Honda mini trail 50, raced motorcross later with a Suzuki 125 and a Yamaha 465. I was riding a Honda XL 185 on the road before i owned a car back when i was 16.
Years later i had an 1982 1200 sportster. I had some work done to the engine to make it go fast and she sported some straight pipes that were loud. I sold that and bought a Wide Glide and had work done to it so she would go fast. Times got hard and had to sell it. I'd like to have another bike if and/or when i can afford one but right now it's a luxury that i don't need. I'd probably buy an enduro or adventure type bike if i could now just so i could drive offroad to camp etc. etc. I love to ride and miss it. |

The whole Harley attitude and "lifestyle" is why I currently and most likely always will ride metric cruisers.

ROFLMAO (BTW, I could make a mint on the vast quantities of those "rings" laying around here......any takers?! they are just easy stick on) LOL The ones we laugh at (on the inside - lol) are the ones who just bought a classic 1968 whatever troublehead that's had more hands on it than a working girl at the mustang ranch and think it's work big $$. Harley branded clothing on a Harley rider.... So that DEAF people can tell what you are riding from a distance. I never get that.... Is the HD branded clothing so that everyone can tell you are the STUD that owns the American Iron in the parking lot? I ride a Suzuki. I have ZERO Suzuki branded clothing. I have driven Nissan cars for the last 18 years. I have ZERO Nissan branded clothing. I have one ARFCOM shirt that does not even say ARFCOM, it is just a BFL. I have one Glock branded pullover that I got for free because my SIL did Glock promotional products. I have ZERO other firearms branded clothing and I have been shooting for 29 years and owning my own firearms for 16 years. I just don't get it. |
