I've got the Chuck Taylor book. I also have some Gabe Suarez books, but not that one. The books are a little different. Taylor's book focuses on combat handgunning, Suarez's equivalent is probably "The Tactical Pistol."

The Taylor book was updated recently, make sure you get the latest edition.

I liked both these books.

I have heard that Suarez has plead guilty to criminal charges and might have spent some time in jail. This is second hand, but I think he was out on a worker's comp type claim and was still teaching combat classes. I'm not sure whether this effects my opinion of his books, but I was kind of shocked to hear this.

Some of the photos in the Chuck Taylor book are dated-from the 70's. I eventually got both books (assuming you are looking for a pistol shooting book-I don't think that's exactly what the Suarez book you referred to is), but if I had to choose I'd give the nod to the Taylor book.

I like Andy Stanford's "Surgical Speed Shooting" also, tho I would get the Taylor book first. The comparison of their opinions on Isoceles v. Weaver make for good reading. Some people give the nod to Taylor over Stanford since Taylor apparently was involved in a number of pistol shoot outs, that didn't really make a difference to me when I read them.

i have never read the Chuck Taylor book, but i have read several of Suarez's books. the Suarez books tend to be very similar in structure, etc. i think the ones i have are the tac rifle and tac shotgun, and they are virtually the same book, as far as tactics go. i would definitley recommend the Suarez books, especially as an introduction to tactical training...

Do any of those books teach how to focus through fear and other natural responses?

I haven't read Jim Crews' handgun training manual but if it's anything like his urban carbine manual it would be worth it.

BTW, Jim used to post on the old AR15-L mailing list, but I haven't seen him around in awhile.
