A Clarksville police officer fishing for drunk drivers had one jump in the boat early Sunday morning when his cruiser was rear-ended.

Officer Tom Johnson was working as part of a DUI saturation patrol, driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, according to a news release from police spokesman Officer Jim Knoll.

At about 3 a.m., he was stopped at a red light in the left southbound lane of Fort Campbell Boulevard at Ringgold Road.

Stanley Mickens, 47, smashed into the back of the police cruiser with his Ford Explorer, Knoll said.

Usually the drunks aim at squads when the lights are on.

Hope the officer's ok.
