"Most", and I need to stress "Most" of the time, they will bring your contents over to near your position so that you can keep your eyes on them as you are being molested. I opt-out of the cancer scanners every time, and they always make you feel like you are such a burden.
In Grand Forks North Dakota, there is this one TSA agent that will ask me every time whey I choose not to go through the scanner. I always give him the same response: 1) I don't feel they are safe 2) I don't think they are making a difference in our security 3) I think they are a HUGE invasion of my privacy. And always he tries to go into a long speech trying to tell me how safe they are, that you shouldn't have to worry, etc etc. I am tempted to next time though tell him I just really like being patted down by men and see how awkward I can make the pat down
